Everyone is talking about IW and rightfully so but Angel got killed against Creighton in the 1st game. He really set the tone and dominated.

He has to be the BE Player of the Week, right? 2 monster double doubles

Two excellent games by Angel but those guys up in Rhode Island are playing at a ridiculous level right now.

Regardless, he Desi and Ish just dominated inside last night and deserve all the credit in the world.

The announcers last night stated at the beginning of the game that McDermott believes that Angel is our "spirit" or "spirit animal" etc and that if he can frustrate Angel the whole team will become frustrated.

They make a great point.

Angel is very emotional and if he's playing poorly he gets down on himself hurting the team.

Carrington and Whitehead often note in the post game pressers that they are always on him during games because he is so important to the team.

Still don't think they make a concerted effort to get him touches enough. Groselle went down early in the 2nd half & I believe Angel only had 2 or 3 more shots

Agree 100%. Especially when Creighton made that run, I was hoping that they would dump it into Delgado. But that five to six minute period the team reverted back to chucking up shots. Grosselle hardly played last night with foul trouble in the first half and injured in the second half. Made a big difference in the game.

Angel wasn't establishing strong post position and often catching the ball about 10-15 feet from the tin. When that happened he was instantly doubled forcing pass outs to open teammates.

Nothing is better than when Angel has a smile on his face. The TV camera is catching that smile a lot lately. When Angel is happy the team plays at its best. Keep smiling Amgel

But the effort to get him the ball and for angel to fight on the boards in the first half got Grosselle his 3 early fouls.

Late in the game, around the 3 min mark AD was double teamed as soon as he caught the ball. This happened all night and was the CU game plan. Angel made a beautiful pass to Ish for the easy FG. It was possibly Angels best pass out if a double team I've seen him make as a Pirate. This isn't an easy thing and he made that pass on the money. He's getting better and better and making strides in his decisions and execution. Every time he touched the ball he was double teamed, and only had 1 TO. He made a lot of good passes all game, but the last one was a beauty.

You know who else had some very nice passes? Desi. He's starting to play in the half court better and better.

He even finished a play going to his right last night. :D

Great game last night. He's played very well after a sluggish start to the year. Need him to keep at it. Huge week for him.

Angel was great on both ends. He fought to keep their big from establishing down low. On 2 called plays, their guy got it low and scored easily but that was rare. Great rebounding and loved that pass to desi (also that great pass from desi). If he and Isaiah play at this level, we will be OK.

Wholeheartedly agree with the observation about Desi and Angel's passing. It is always good (and unfortunately too rare) to be watching a SHU game and comment out loud "Oh - nice pass." I think this team is rounding into form with Ish's 4 assists against SJU and the passing yesterday.

Go Pirates.

Remember when Willard said that Angel playing in the Pan Am games hurt him individually because he was away from SHU and now had to catch-up to the rest of his teammates.

Looks like he was right.

And I want to add to the above by saying Willard did note that he understood why Delgado did what he did as it was a great honor. But he was talking just from a SHU standpoint.
