depaul taking it to PC. Hanging tough all game. Hope they hang in for a W. Who knows, maybe the Johnnies get a W tomorrow vs X. Anything can happen in this league.

There are no guatanteed wins in the conference

Some nights you just don't have it. Dunn misses the front end on 2 1-1's.
Missing wide open 3's. PC looking exhausted right now.

Biggest upset in the conference so far.

DePaul 77
Prov 70

Hope Bentil's ankle is ok.

DePaul beating Providence may be very good for SHU.

SHU is close to tying Providence in the BE record, and we would finish ahead of Providence because SHU won head to head. If SHU wins at home vs Providence, we we would really have a great chance to leapfrog that nationally prominent team.

Providence has gotten a lot of mileage from their top 3 players, but the Friars have a thin bench. If their top 3 players wear down, the record for Providence in the 2nd half of the season will be weaker, also helping us to leapfrog them.

Why the hell would you want DePaul to win this game?
Uhh. What do you mean. Gets us closer to the top of the conference. In a week from now we can quite possibly sitting in the 3rd spot. How cool would it be to be Nova,X, Shu ai 123 in Conf.

I'm not big on DePaul either, real cocky for a team that has done NOTHING forever; hope they stay where they are, as in, nowhere; oh, and let's make sure to beat those guys in 3 wks

That was a terrible loss for our resume and if St. John's takes down Xavier I will walk down South Orange Ave in nothing but my birthday suit ... ain't happening

These things happen. If we take care of our own business and win a whole bunch of games it won't matter one bit. Need to coast into the BET and NCAA playing great ball and ready to win some games there.

Standings. Knocking PC back to the pack gives SH an opportunity to move into solo possession of 3rd place with two wins this week.

Of course, we have to take care of business at home against MU and GU but two wins this week could have us sitting alone in third at 7-4 come this Saturday night.

Providence losing one game to a bad team doesn't hurt our resume much at all. PC is still 18-5 overall, although they remain vastly overrated in my opinion. KenPom has had them in the 30s at best and mostly in the 40s this season while the AP voters believe they were a top 10-15 team for some reason. KenPom usually doesn't lie. A correction was bound to happen.

There is a lot of season left to play. Just win games and everything takes care of itself.

You can't look at if this team wins/loses helps/hurts our resume. It's to the point we just win our games we should and we are in. Providence winning or losing last night will not affect us making the tournament. Providence can lose out and it won't change anything, we just need to win.

We can only control the games we play in and can't worry about who beats who. One game at a time.

DePaul is the Big East's stink bomb. They are miserable in their non-conference. Then they vie for last place in-conference, but always manage to play spoiler. Their beating Providence drags down the RPI of one of our best teams and of the conference.

The only good thing I can see coming out of their win over Providence is that it could help our team to realize that that could be us in a few weeks. That empty arena in windy Chicago has been a house of horrors for us in the late season.

Providence is a two man team as I have noted often in my Monday rankings. Take one of those two players away and they are very ordinary.

Bentil played 14 minutes due to his injury.

Maybe DePaul is playing better. They have some talent. And It's not like we murdered them when we played. It would not surprise me if they won a few more games esp. on their home court. We need to be aware of this when we go out there.

Cannot take any team for granted and to me Depaul looks better than last year. Gotta just focus on tonight and beat Marquette. One game at a time.

No freebies in the Big East especially on the road with or without injuries. Hope Bentil is okay but boy the door is opening up here. Hopefully the players see it and pounce on the oppurtunity in front of them tonight.

DP scares the crap out of me and they could have easily beaten us last time. You have to respect what PC has done, and their dynamic duo is awesome and Dunn is an AA. And I know BU has some bad recent losses. But every time I see them play, Butler is the team that seems better. I understand right now it isn't close, and I admit to have not seen any of BU's losses. But that is the impression I have gotten from what I have seen. And let me add, I root for PC more than any other BE team.

Leitao is a good coach. They are not lying on the floor anymore. This league is a killer league, and it does mean war every night.

I agree with Soccer, we have only one path - win our games and then some.

DePaul sucks. Bad losses happen from time to time. I wouldn't read much more into it than that.

Hopefully for Providence Bentil is ok.

Just hope that our team realizes that anybody can beat anybody in this league if you don't have your A game.

On selection Sunday standings won't matter. The higher PC's RPI or whatever rankings are used, the better our win looks.

I think you can safely bet that truism is engrained in the heads of a group of kids that have played thousands of basketball games in their lives.

Why? For the vast majority of games in their lives, they were winning unless they broke a leg? They admitted they were caught off guard by Creighton at home. Let's hope they keep the first Creighton game in their heads as the example of what can happen if you don't show up properly prepared.

They say RPI's are not used heavily, just as a guide.

Which is practically the same thing as saying the only test worth a damn to an evaluator is "the eye test" - and the only control we have over that dreaded test is to win as many games as possible, and then cross fingers and toes and hope.

Standings in a conference doesn't mean much in terms of NCAA seeding.
If we finish 10-8 and end up in 3rd place or we finish 10-8 and we finish in 6th place it really wouldn't impact our computer #s much and would have close to no impact on our seeding.

But when you look at the breakdown and our best win is @ Providence at RPI say 48 instead of RPI 22. It looks a lot less impressive and could be the difference that moves you up or down a seeding.

However, the game already happened so looking at the benefit of Depaul winning, well maybe they stay in the top 150 and keep our schedule at 9 games of 150+ rpi teams instead of 11.

Overconfidence happens from time to time. It will probably happen again this season. That doesn't mean our guys don't fully understand the possibility of losing to an inferior team if they don't play well. I'm certain it's happened many times in their lives. Healthy limbs and all.

Everyone has a clunker from time to time. The trick is minimizing them.

But Wichita and Georgia wins are looking better and better for the Hall. I'm suprised how disappointed Ole Miss has been since we played them.
