Planning to make our annual trek from Eastern Long Island to a Walsh game with a stop-off for drinks, lunch and shuffleboard at Gaslight...............only to find out, sadly, that Gaslight will not unlock its doors for any customer activity until 12:30 p.m. tomorrow. Hate to rush through everything and don't want to miss the opening tip, so I'm looking for recommendations for brunch or lunch that can be served earlier at someplace in that same immediate area that serves basic American or Italian cuisine comparable to Gaslight (or better). Grew up in Vailsburg, so I know the South Orange environment somewhat but I'm clearly out of date with what's good that's still operating (has anyone taken over what used to be Cryan's ?)
