My number one target for the Pirates in the spring signing period was Freeman as I thought he could step in and make a major contribution to this year's team. While it's disappointing not to land him ( it was a long shot anyway ) his picking RU was somewhat of a surprise as I thought he would go to SJU .

I would have taken him for us without any hesitation if there were no personal conduct issues and if it were a choice between Anderson and Freeman I'd have taken Freeman. He's a banger and physical my kind of power player.

we lost out on Ham Sandwich but hey look we just cashed in on the high motor slightly undersized Tuna Sandwich (in oil)!
Yeah, SJU backed off him even under Lavin. New staff never renewed interest. SJU looks in good shape with two kids visiting tomorrow in Malik Ellison SG/SF, and Durand Johnson, Pitt grad transfer who is immediately eligible. Both very good players. Malik Ellison is son of NBA'er Pervis Ellison. Very underrated player from things I've heard. Durand would be instant starter. Plus Diallo announcement likely tomorrow. It's a big day for SJU fans.
