Desi Pushed a Trainer? Is that true or BS?

If Desi doesn't have the game he had, we lose today and are in deep s**t for NCAA selection.

But, the main mention he gets is that he "may" have pushed a trainer.

Can anyone provide the answer here? Is that idle BS or did it really happen? I'd hate to see this kid get trashed for something he didn't do.

I didn't see the trainer thing, but a fan was jawing with Desi all game. The game was so poorly officiated that you could feel the tension in the whole building. I'm actually surprised that more didn't occur.

At the end of the game, Desi was at the end of the bench. Delgado got up and put him in the first seat next to the coaches. I don't think Desi would have gotten back in if Sanogo didn't foul out. So that's troubling.

All I saw was that he was in the last seat on the bench and at some point Willard dispatched Delgado to get him to sit near the team. He had to go in at that point because Willard had no one else. He had an amazing game and was on the bench for 15 minutes of the second half. . Apparently he lost control - how and why - don't know. He played unbelievably - game would have been put away if he had been in for most of the second half.

So St John's fans and players both have no class. What is Mullin teaching these players? Mullin thinks he is entitled to every call because he played in the NBA. We won the game and at the end of the day that is all that matters.

He played 32 minutes today. He sat his usual 4 or 5 minutes in the first half for Singh. If he was 'benched' for pushing someone in the 2nd half he didn't sit for very long. I did see some jawing from him toward fans and at the very end of the game from Whitehead toward the St. John's bench. But none of it looked egregious.

A real crummy team almost beat a much better team. Whatever they did, we should do it too. If a coach can get away with stuff cause of who he is, shame on him if he ever fails to try for the advantage.

I didn't see Desi push a trainer but I saw it get physical during a timeout late in the second half. Desi definitely got very heated in the huddle. I saw, what appeared to be, a couple players trying to calm him down and he was pushing them off him

Who knows what happened or what caused it. The kid plays with a lot of emotion, I don't think it's a big deal but he needs to act like a leader.

FYI Desi played more minutes than any Pirate, 32 except Khadeen at 33. Desi started the 2nd half and played until the 11:25 mark. He sat until 8:23. He then played until the 3:26 mark. He came back in with 58 seconds to go. That's a total of 14 minutes he played in the 2nd half.

It 'seemed' as if he was gone longer, but the 2:28 seconds he was out until the last minute, allowed him to be fresh and win the game with his O rebound and the slap of the ball on the last play. Great game by Desi, MVP.

I was sitting in row 11 section 4 on the aisle behind our bench and had a perfect view.

At one of the last time outs when they were sitting on the stools away from the bench Desi was going ballistic and at one point was standin,g put his hands on Testa's chest and pushed him. You had to see the look on Testa's face. Then Desi sat back down and was pointing and screaming at teammates while kw was trying to speak to the players. It was pretty ugly.

That's basically what I saw too (except I missed the trainer part).

What is it with this kid? He's got to get his head screwed on straight especially as we approach the post season. He played an awesome game yesterday, and has tremendous potential. Hopefully Willard/Shaheen/Whitehead et al., can get this kid under control and get him to keep his emotions in check. He can't be his own worst enemy.

Yea, because it is their fault that Desi lost it yesterday and has done so before. What BE team and their fan base can we blame last years locker room disaster on?

I've been going to Hall/SJU games for a long time. There fans are no worse or better than ours when it comes to getting on the opposing team or their fans. Neither situation is anything like sitting in the upper deck of the old Vet for an Eagles game as a fan of the opposition.

And Mullin doesn't do anything differently in working the refs than most coaches do.

It's been the one blemish this year on a team that seems to have good chemistry. Who knows what's causing it, but based on the way he played offensively yesterday, this is the last thing I would have expected.

It's always something. Kid has a tremendous first half and still can't control himself. He's lucky Tony is a nice guy. I don't envy what Willard has had to put up with, in terms of personalities, from the beginning.

No limits?

Desi has been amazing. Here's a kid who made 1 3 pointer all of last season who is now shooting over 40% from 3 1 season later. The reason I bring that up whether you look at Gibbs, Theodore, Cosby, Desi, Fu, Auda, or any other big east talent that Willard has worked with, they've all grown exponentially in the offseason. I think there is going to be serious competition at the 3 next year if Veer can improve like so many others have. Willard and company have done a marvelous job in individual player development. Desi's going to have to control his emotions better otherwise I think it will be much easier to sit him next year. I love his energy, but there are points it needs to be reeled in.

I took Desi sitting more at the end because Willard wanted Gordon's defense out there.

Desi and Angel both can be very emotional, with Desi being much more animated. Think both need to mature a bit but they are sophomores, and that will come with time.

He was NOT on the Bench for 15 minutes in the second half. someone watched the replay of the game and said it looked like he was out longer than he actually was. he played 32-33minutes in the game most on the team.

I also thought Desi sat for a long time but on review I realized, as so many have pointed out, it wasn't much in game time. The perception came from how tortuously long the 2nd half took in real time due to fouls, official reviews, etc.

Ok, fair enough - it seemed like he sat much longer. But would have liked him in there sooner, especially since he was our best player on the floor that day and is a decent free throw shooter.

My bad - it seemed like an eternity when he was on the bench. With the game he had, would have liked to see him log a few more minutes. But I'm sure the coaches know better what his stamina is.

I was two rows behind the bench near Desi and while I didn't notice any pushing, I did watch the trainer working on Desi's fingers (on his left hand I believe...didn't look serious but there was a little tape involved). No idea if it was related but he didn't seem agitated or stressed. Now me the last 5
Minutes of the game I was really agitated and stressed....
