coaches need to settle him a bit and keep his head cool cause we really need him playing as aggressive and consistent as he has been lately over the next 2. He very well may be the key to the upsets. He has been the most consistent inside and outside of late. If he brings the St. John's game and we get what's expected from IW and AD we can beat both PC and X.

Coaches need to play him more. Clearly our 2nd best player. Crazy to think Willard was going to start Singh over him (pre injury)

Desi is a great player. Right now he's streaky, but a big difference maker.

He's going to be a handful for teams in the NCAA's.

Idk if I would call Desi streaky. I think he's under utilized because he's a match up nightmare. Can destroy opponents from so many angles. Been more consistent than Carrington

Would consider Rodriquez our most consistent scorer and not much has been said about his great ability to come up with key steals.

Why does it matter what the coaching staff was thinking last October. Maybe Singh was shooting lights out and Willard was thinking we need more 3 point shooting. We are at the bottom of the league in 3 point offense. But the coaching staff correctly made the decision to go with Desi. Why keep bringing this up?

The only reason they went with Desi was because Singh was hurt. KW even said it in interviews. They didn't decide.

Why does what happened four months ago matter now? If Singh wasn't ready when the lights went on, he wouldn't have been the starter for long.

Got to agree with radecicco. Again the board is still in constant criticize Willard mode.

I can't believe we are discussing a subject about a possible opening day starter.

As noted above if Veer Singh didn't deserve to start as the early season progressed then Willard clearly would have made the change.

Posters have to stop living in the past. If you have a current issue with Willard's decision making go right ahead and discuss it. But guys, we're 19-7 and we're harping on minutia.

Desi is a very good player, if he can keep his head screwed on straight he has a chance to be a special player. Let's hope all involved can keep this kid level headed.

I agree with Dan here. Can we got off of Willard for a second? Jeez. His team is 19-7, 9-5 and we're in line for our first NCAA bid in 10 years and we're continuing to go after the guy.

Yes, the past 5 years sucked. But they're over.

I'm not a Willard fan. I'll admit he's done a much better job this year but that doesn't mean he's perfect. Also, the middle of the Big East has really under performed. Georgetown might be the most disappointing team in the country, Providence, Marquette, etc

We are a rough crowd sometimes. I remember how much Orr was hammered too.

Let's enjoy the run.

I don't see anything wrong with that, in and of itself. When everything is considered, the scale still tilts toward the side that says he's not a very good coach.

But, having said that, the Veer-as-opening-day-starter criticism is ridiculous. Let it go. It wasn't an issue then, and it couldn't matter less now.

You can't make a point by choosing one sentence in an entire post.

Read its entirety ending with this

I'm actually agreeing with you, Dan - not about Willard, in general, but as far as harping on what I consider minutia, too, like him having considered starting Veer at the beginning of the season. That didn't happen, so who cares? Why is it still an issue?

forget about the nonsense noise people on Willard this and that and veer was gonna start but .... It doesn't matter. What does matter is we have another terrific weapon in desi Rodriguez. If the coaching staff can keep his head straight on the court and on the bench he can be the lightning rod we need the rest of the season. He is a fan favorite and is playing so consistent day in and out.

I know you are but this comment could cause confusion. Thus my response to complete my entire thought. .

I get it. I just parsed that line of yours so my own post would make more sense.

Just so I'm clear: I see nothing wrong with valid criticism of Willard. But the Veer issue is not, to me, valid or vital. That's all.
