Just watched the Tournament of Champions Final between the two teams. St Pats got a hard fought win. Some observations
1. Nick Richards is an absolute stud, but he is a bit soft. Bosco didn't have a player on the team within 6 inches of him, but they bodied him and got a lot of rebounds off him. However, Richards offensive skillset is absurd. He hit a few deep jumpers, had a couple nice post moves and is a great shot blocker.
2. Vladir Manuel dominated for parts of the game. Believed he finished with around 16 points and probably 6-8 rebounds. Had some nice moves in the paint and had a good feel for the game. Like Richards, he is a bit soft defensively, but he is a real threat as a shot blocker. Definitely a high major player who should be a starter by year two in his career.
3. Jordan Walker is lightning fast, has high basketball IQ, and has elite vision. He didn't have a great shooting game (just in that he didn't really shoot many outside shots, believe he went 5-7 or 6-7 from field overall), but he controlled the tempo, pushed pace at proper times and made smart basketball play after smart basketball play. He is most definitely a Big East caliber starter and I think he is ready to start for Seton Hall at this stage. If SHU misses Duval and lands Walker, they will be more than okay and I think Walker is a better player than Jones and that is not a knock on Jones
4. Mike Rice is a tremendous, tremendous basketball coach and you can tell the kids respect him and he gets the most out of them. He draws up good plays, gets his team to play under control, and they play hard. He would be a great assistant for Seton Hall, regardless of the recruits he could bring in
