OMAHA, NEB. -- After winning its league opener on Tuesday, the No. 23 Seton Hall women's basketball team (11-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) continues conference action with a New Year's Eve showdown on Thursday afternoon at Creighton (6-7, 0-1). The Pirates and Bluejays will square off on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. (ET) in a contest broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network/FOX Sports GO app.

The Pirates are coming off a 64-54 victory at Providence on Tuesday, improving to 11-1 on the season and starting BIG EAST play at 1-0. Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) led The Hall with 16 points and Tiffany Jones (New York, N.Y.) added a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double. The Pirates out-rebounded the Friars 43-31 and forced 21 turnovers in the victory.

The Hall is 1-3 all-time against Creighton, with all four meetings coming since the Bluejays joined the BIG EAST prior to the 2013-14 season. Last season the Pirates and Bluejays split, with Seton Hall winning 79-74 on Dec. 3, 2014 in Omaha before Creighton took an 81-73 on Feb. 8, 2015 in South Orange.

• Creighton opened conference play on Tuesday, falling to St. John’s by a margin of 66-55
• The Bluejays went 6-6 in non-conference play, including victories over Wichita State, Marist and common opponent Northern Iowa
• Audrey Faber leads Creighton with 15.2 points per game and shoots 50.0 percent from 3-point range
• Faber also leads the Bluejays in rebounding (4.2 rpg) and blocked shots (1.3 bpg)
• MC McGrory is second on the squad with 10.8 points and 3.7 rebounds a contest
• The Bluejays lead the BIG EAST with a 39.2 percent mark from 3-point range

Following the Creighton contest, The Hall hosts Marquette on Sunday, Jan. 2 for its first home BIG EAST game of the seasson.

After leading by five with as many minutes left in regulation, the RV/#24 Seton Hall University women's basketball team dropped an 81-73 decision to the Creighton Bluejays on Sunday afternoon inside Walsh Gymnasium.

46-33 with a few minutes left in the 2nd. WSOU like usual is light on the details of score and time.
 
Not good. 46-37 with 30 seconds left. CU 7-9 and SHU 2-8 in last 17 possessions.

SHU was up by 23 this quarter.

Now 48-37 at the half.
 
There was a Media timeout and Tony did call a timeout. So 2 timeouts in the last 7-8 minutes when the run happened.
 
Women's basketball changed the rules on time outs this season as well as going to quarters instead of halves. I forget the exact change but I do know you have to be careful with them or you can burn through them quickly.
