I know he was in at garbage time, but I really like the excellent, quick release on his three point shot. Based on that occuring, I really would like to see what he could do during some quality game time, perhaps taking a couple of minutes each half away from his fellow freshman - VS. (I really would hate to see his talent lost to next year's team, due to a transfer for his lack of playing time this year.) GO PIRATES!

I think all he can do right now is hit an open 3. Literally the only thing.

Sometimes that's all you need to get PT. Case in point, Singh. Singh has been cold though. Needs to get out if his funk.

Willard addressed in post game on radio. Says he just not ready for real minutes. I hope he hangs around he strikes me as someone who can help out in his Jr/ Sr. Years if he is here. I think of all those players like wojo at duke or Donald copeland who bloomed late and really contributed as upperclassmen. Soffer strikes me as that kind of player.

Part of sustaining a consistently strong program is you have continuous player development. You have young players who ride the bench but improve and grow in the rotation each year. Some players take gradual steps, others big leaps.

You can look at our current roster for a great example of the latter type of development.

Can Veer do anything else than hit the 3??? Oh, at the moment can't hit the 3 either??? Why, then, is Veer getting so many minutes?

Never judge a player by what he does at the end of blowout games. Soffer is not ready to play at this level yet. If he was KW would be playing him.

As for Veer...his confidence is shot. Doesn't look like a shadow of the player who early in the season before he was injured was probably going to start.

The one thing Singh excels at is shooting from range and as we have all seen that's hasn't happen this season.

I think he needs to walk away from this year as soon as the season ends, take a break and then ready himself for his sophomore campaign.

Right now everything is coming too fast for him and he's caught in the whirlwind.

He looks tense and it is affecting his shot. But he also doesn't seem to be able to do anything but catch and shoot.

Yes, that's his game right now. That and hustle. But he needs to understand much of what he did in HS won't translate at this level.

Early in his career he must concentrate on what he does well and that is to shoot the ball opening up driving lanes for his teammates. Eventually through physical maturity and experience he will improve upon his other skill sets.

Right now he's overwhelmed. Willard is trying to do everything possible to help him gain confidence but I think other than a play here and another there he's going to need to walk away and regroup. And obviously that can't happen during the season.

Exactly. And you just can't compare the minutes veer gets room dalton's. People said this after the RU game too.

That said and you're right Dick there's a lot of people who bet the Hall and gave the points who see Soffer as the hero of the game. Those two shots from the arc were the difference in the spread as Mullin sicced his dogs on our subs in the end game.

Soffer should be getting all of Singh's minutes. Singh does nothing out there.
Soffer looked to have trouble dribbling the ball at times. But he has a very quick release on his shot and is ready to shoot. Veer has similar problems with dribbling and handling the ball, but looks better than Soffer in the ball-handling department. However, Veer is not set when he gets the ball and releases too slowly. In his defense, Veer has been guarded pretty closely. Soffer was wide open last night. (I think the same was true in the Rutgers game when he hit a couple of shots.)

All i know is that all our backups literally have NO IDEA how to dribble. Like cant even put down one dribble. Willard had to put gordon back in the game to help them. Which is a good move because they wont progress turning the ball over every 2 seconds.

I know Veer is getting time to gain his confidence back because we truly could use his three point specialty.... while doing this it takes does time away from Desi. He gives us so much more on the floor being another threat and makes it difficult to defend us.

Willard made very clear on the post game that DS won't be getting any meaningful minutes this year, so I guess we can put the issue to bed. But I'm in the group that wants to see this kid get a few shots when it counts. A kid like Soffer is the perfect complement to a team full of penetrating guards who can't shoot. I'm sure he sucks on defense, but we have a few other guys getting minutes who fit that description too.

When he high fived that guy in the crowd after his first 3 (his dad?) i almost spit my water out. Good for him.

Veer is 6 7ish and can play d on 3s bc of his length. Soffer who played 3 in HS, is 6 4ish can't guard most 3s because too small and 2s might be too quick and on offense still needs to work on dribble so can't play guard too often be we need at least 2 people that can handle in at a time.
