This has been a disaster. I'm surprised how bad it is and Sha can answer for himself on his roster construction and the terrible level of play. Not his style to explain, but it's already hard for them to raise funds and alienating the people donating to NIL with this return would also be unwise.

Anyway, play these young guys. Dual is getting better, believe it or not. Middleton flashes. They have more talent that's there to be developed and perhaps a long-term here than running out Addae-Wusu, Aligbe, + Toumi. Those guys can be bench players. The young guys need to play. If this was 4 years ago we'd be looking at potential with those two and Coleman only sophomores. Plus Erheriene and Yalden as freshmen bigs to develop.

At least playing these young guys is something to derive from this mess. Then see if they can find themselves and retain them as a core moving forward.

Yeah and then game after game complains how we start...

Dual is playing better on defense and he's moving the ball much better. He's even starting to drive the basketball. He's not nearly as good as his hype and ranking, but he has ability and I'd like that guy start and play 25-30 minutes when he can. Just invest in his development during this lost year.

Play Felton more too.

I's better than watching DAW there. End that and move on.

dual played far better today. middleton pkayed well. zay too. godswill showed me something and gus did too. this is not going to save the season. i dont see a win in the schedule.

would have been easy to quit today. we didnt and made it a little fun. tough day for chaunce. not sure who i want at pg when dual sits. i dont want dylan but not sure we have a better option.

the offense is the problem. play faster. and the next time the announcer praises our d, realize it is nothing special.

given all that, i take today as a positive. given how the game stated, the odds that the crowd would not start to leave till there were 20 secobds left were huge. We grew a pair.

Can definitely see the potential in Dual, Middleton and Coleman. Maybe we can sign those three to longer term contracts now, while their value is low? Is that even legal?

According to Sha, Jenkins has a knee injury that was sustained in practice this week.

Middleton was lights out from 3 and also was disruptive on D when they were trying to inbound the ball.
They need to run more kickouts to Middleton for one thing.
You can see ability from these guys. A lot more than you see from the older players.

Get them playing together consistently. Dual driving more, kicking it out, ball reversals to Middleton, Coleman in the mid-range with options. Gus out there giving you energy, Godswill is mixing up more in the post. At least it's something to build on and interesting.

A program like Seton Hall needs to be figuring these things out. It's our only hope to maintain some competitiveness. Sort of need to be like like the Tampa Bay Rays. And then the fanbase at least can point to something.

We all see it but somehow Sha needs to watch film and see where we are. He’s the one playing 11 guys and establishing nothing.

two awful pick six passes from jenkins and that one play when he took his man low and got blocked were enough to keep him on the bench today. hopo he is ok. like his offensive potential.

ok played 3 minutes. got beat downcourt by his guy who got an easy bucket. TO. Have a seat. toumi us a fouler.

Why no Felton??? Is he in the Sha doghouse? He was hyped as THE future guard. I guess that will be for some other school because he sure as hell isn't going to stay here. A real head scratcher
i was happy to see dual at the pg today. hope felton earns backup minutes.

he was hyped as THE future guard?

Dual has 9 points, 9 assists (4 TO) + played good defense at times. He’s had a good week.
Played more aggressively when game was getting out of hand and had nothing to lose. Something Sha deters them from doing. When game is close, they must look at their general for instruction and if they make a mistake, they will be screamed at for it. Sha is the reason these guys aren’t allowed to do what got them here. And he commented postgame about them being robots out there. So tone deaf.

Agree Piratz develop these young guys and get Felton more time to spell Dual. I will be happy if I never saw Toumi on the court again. I like Aligbes effort but he just doesn’t have it. He should come off the bench for a few minutes a game. Same for DAW.

Dual, Middleton, Coleman, Godswill are the future. Get these guys the most time. Give credit to Gus too this game. He gave them a lift with his energy and play.

I hope some of the young players have 2-year contracts. No idea if that is even a thing with NIL.

Positives today: Dual had 9 assists and Scotty starting to find the 3-point range. Middleton probably needs to be in the starting lineup. Seems to be the only one who confidently hoists 3s. Also plays spirited defense.

It's so infuriating watching our players constantly put the ball on the floor rather than shoot the 3 when open.

OSU screened and moved the ball with the pass beautifully. The PG penetrated at will and found the open man for easy 3s until we went to zone. We will need that zone much more often.

Center by committee? Woeful free throw shooting FT shooting again? Too many weaknesses to name. Just need to find some hope with the younger players and fingers crossed the good ones stay.

Sha criticized Coleman’s best game of the year because he shot too many threes in Charleston (he made them). Again takes away from his players’ natural abilities. Afraid to do the wrong thing so it creates fear and self doubt.

I think shaheen got in Dual's ear and said take it to the rim and finish. Hes look hesitant all season til today

Totally agree. Guys are open and passing up good looks from 3 and driving the ball into oblivion. We need a balance.

Gus started the rally, kid plays with enthusiasm. He needs to get more minutes. He moves without the ball on offense really refreshing to see a player who gets it. On defense he plays smart. We need his energy and fight on the floor for 20 minutes a game. Totally agree play the young guys and let them develop. They might actually surprise us.

And then Sha subbed him out and Tubek finished the game. Why? Probably “feel.” 🙄

Gus can’t shoot and definitely is not BE player like most of the team don’t know what our record losses in a year in conference but this team can break it.

Has a quick release from 3 and is tall enough to get it off against most guards/forwards. I like his mindset. If he's open from 3 he takes it, passes decently and plays hard all the time. He needs to start or get at least 25 minute a game.

It's hard to read much into play when you are getting blown out for significant chunks of a game. Not uncommon for a high major team up 25 -- or any team for that matter -- to relax when they are winning by that margin and the result is no longer in doubt.

For me Felton could be the PG in the future or a player not on the roster this year. Dual is more of a physical off guard. Dual needs to work on his jumper. He does disrupt play on defense. So, he has a future. I don't see Sha or Andre in his game.

Middleton should start at this point. Play your best basketball players. He needs to pick up his game focus. Those intercepted passes were unacceptable for this level of play. I think he could be a go to player at crunch time as his career progresses. If he wants to play at the next level his ball handling has to improve.

I thought both Godswill and Gus added to the equation and helped to change the energy level. Godswill is a BigEast athlete in my opinion. They should develop a baseline jumper for him. It seems like a law at SHU to not have your 5 develop a short jump shot. I never understand that. Gus knows the game. He has to somehow gain some explosion over next Summer. Great enthusiasm. He has to relax a bit. Once he hits some threes, I think he'll have more confidence. Jury still out on his outside shooting.

Felton? At some point we can get some info on why he hasn't played the last two games????????????

I think part of Sha's problem is that he is a perfectionist and extremely critical by nature and always looks toward the negative.

However, this is not a healthy way to teach people and get people to have faith in themselves.

I think this is some of what we are seeing.

People said the same thing about Patrick Auda, Gus is much further along than Pat at this point in his career. Gus moves around the floor great for a big man. I was a coach for over 20 years in multiple sports Gus is a winner. You need kids like him to be successful. He refuses to lose and cannot wait to get on the floor to show you. First year the dude has played college ball and you already gave up on him. He’s the real deal I expect great things if we can keep him in a SHU uniform. Reminds me of the kid from Indiana State we beat in the NIT. Just keeps coming at you and never gives up. He will keep fans coming to the games.

The Sha Adjustment Period many allude to but don’t detail is this ⬆️

I’m not sure what Gus is on the court but he gives you energy which is contagious. He plays his ass off and isn’t afraid. He’s a positive. He play for stretches, which is what he is at this stage.

Trust me he’s weeding out the losers, good players like coaches like Sha. He’s pushing them to be better, these guys need to be pushed. Are we watching the same games. We will be better by January because the kids he can push will be on the floor. Our coach knows what he’s doing, and he doesn’t care what any of us think. He has long term goals that include winning. Fans view the games under a microscope he has a vision of what they can become.

Gus reminds me of a player on Clemson named Ian Schieffelin. He’s a pudgy forward and plays with lots of energy. Other teams underestimate him at their peril. He was a big key to Clemson going far in the tournament last year. If Gus can get in the gym and work on his strength and conditioning he could become a solid player for us. Need more guys that have natural basketball skills who can shoot and hit FTs like Gus and Middleton. And with a few more threats on the court, that will open up more opportunities for Jenkins too.

Exactly he looks like he doesn’t belong but is always in the right spot on the floor blocking a shot, getting a loose ball, getting an offensive rebound. He’s adjusting to the speed of the game. Plus he’s likable and fun to watch because he never stops moving which helps create shots for other guys on the floor. Current team stands around to much. We need to press for 20 minutes a game to wake this team up.

Good question. My guess: It's legal, but probably unenforceable. So if their stock rises, they can head out just like anyone else. They just don't get what they were promised after that point per the deal. I guess the risk is that they don't develop and you're stuck with them, although I agree that all three seem to have a lot of potential.

So its going to take until January every year for the team to be watchable? Most of the team is going to turn over every year with NIL and the lack of transfer rules.

For perspective, we lost to USC and Iowa in San Diego last year, then lost to rutgers at home, which may have been the worst OOC loss. We then beat UConn to start the conference schedule, and went 13-5. Was last season really horrible "until January?"

Middleton is super athletic, plays with intensity on defense, and can pop the 3. Look at how he played down the stretch at OSU. This is a guy who needs to be on the floor and we need to build some fluidity with player rotations. He’s an undersized 4 as he’s very lean, but you can go to Aligbe and Toumi when you need to. Leave them on the bench.

Gus gives great energy. Every good team has a guy like him. He also moves constantly and makes things happen space-wise, also isn’t afraid to mix it up. It’s infectious. He deserves regular run, not sure why he had a DNP against NJIT . He’s going to be a 10 MPG type at best; not sure it’s even that, but who cares, let him do something in his first season of college ball.
