This may be a moot point with the one and done deal potentially ending, but I think a guy like Duval will be used by coaches at schools like Seton Hall as an example of what can go wrong if you choose to pursue a one and done at a school like Duke. Seems very likely Duval was one and done regardless in that Staff's eyes and Coach K promised minutes to incoming freshman, so even though Duval should have gone back and improved his draft stock, he gets pushed into the draft and ends up in a tough situation.
Had he come to the Hall, not only would he have been in a much bigger role, he gets welcomed back with open arms for year two. IW is a great example of this.
I dont mean to use Duval as an example as sour grapes, just its easy to highlight the issue with how his career played out compared to IW. This can be said for similar players and other schools that mightve provided them more of a chance to shine.
