NEW YORK, N.Y. - Senior Anthony Elia (Flanders, N.J.) and junior Zack Weigel (Oak Park, Ill.) were named to the 2015 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team on Sunday.
Elia was one of just two pitchers selected for the All-Tournament Team, joining BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year Ryan McCormick of St. John's. Elia saved his best-career performance for his final career start and the conference's highest stage. The left-hander tossed a complete game in Seton Hall's 5-1 victory over Georgetown on Friday. Elia pitched to just three batters over the minimum, allowing just one run on four hits, with a career-high nine strikeouts and no walks. He gave up a solo home run to Georgetown's Ryan Busch to lead off the game, but was nearly untouchable the rest of the way.
Weigel was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team for a second straight year as he was the Pirates' lone representative on the team in 2014. The outfielder tied for the team lead with a .333 batting average and two RBIs over the three games of the tournament. Weigel also had a team-high two doubles and six total bases. He went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Seton Hall's final game on Saturday.
