After watching the Georgetown end-of-game fouling and then the Super Bowl end of game penalty with 11 seconds left (which required a ten second countdown), I'd be curious to hear thoughts on the following:

Should there be a rule change regarding end-of-game (final 2 minutes?) fouls committed prior to an inbound play?

Before Flagrant 1 and 2, we had intentional fouls but no longer have that. It seems without any penalty for doing so, the smart play is to intentionally foul the worst shooter before the inbound play and before the clock starts. Why wait for the inbound play to begin and risk having to foul the best shooter and lose seconds off the clock?

I'd be in favor of a 1 shot technical and return the ball to the inbounding team at their end of the court.

Yes
The end of games take forever to finish both in college and in the pros . There are have been many solutions offered to fix the problem from assessing a foul shot and possession to the team fouled to assessing a foul shot and run 10 seconds off the clock where you're fouling a player prior to the inbound play and give the team possession as well. One really creative idea I heard was that the team fouled in that situation automatically gets 2 points without having to shoot the FT and possession.

I agree, think there has to be some kind of penalty for fouling before the ball is inbounded in end of game situations, just kills the flow and excitement of end of games.

Maybe as simple as a technical foul shot, each time it is done, too more severe penalties: like 2 technical shots, some type of clock runoff, or to team keeping possession after foul shots.

Not sure I like that. Other than goal-tending, automatic points rub me the wrong way. I like when teams extend the game. It forces the winning team to man up if they couldn't create a point separation in the final minutes.

I am definitely in favor of 1 shot and the ball if you foul off-the-ball in the final two minutes.

Come on guys. Think of our home game vs Villanova. We're down 1, playing extremely tight D, Villanova struggles inbounding the ball 3 times. Think about how you potentially may have to soften up on D because you can't risk a technical foul. The most extreme I would go is the player fouled doesn't have to shoot, the team can pick the shooter.

Agreed. I don't think anything should change but if it did, I wouldn't go farther than what you said in your last sentence.
