Not sure if anyone saw this or cares. It's relevant if you play rec sports or have kids playing sports. Field Turf has popped up all over NJ and across the country, and many of the fields have deteriorated sooner than their life expectancy. The Star Ledger/NJ Advanced Media did a 6 month investigation on this, and the shadiness of the company selling and installing the product.
There's lots of corporate e-mails about overblown sales pitches the product can't meet, coverups, stonewalling customer complaints, etc. It's a really long read but interesting. Sad that it appears the municipalities/taxpayers have been sold a bill of goods here.
This is not to mention what some people believe to be cancer causing agents in the ground up rubber chunks in the turf - no idea if this is true, but some people believe it to be the case. I don't have any science on it one way or the other right now.
