For whatever reason this team has not played in a great home environment consistently this year. Students, alums, casual fans need to be the focus of a huge marketing campaign to create a great home court advantage these next 2 games. On the cusp of the first NCAA tournament appearance in 10 years, there is no reason for the Rock not to be electric for our final 2 home games.

our kids probably looked around today, saw 13K, and said what the heck??? for a 1 win team? What do we have to do to get this kiind of support?

No reason we shouldn't sell out the Rock for these last two home games! Send these guys out in style and let them know we not only appreciate their efforts but want to see them have a deep run in the NCAA's!

Was at the game and I spoke with an MSG usher who said they had given away over 7,000 seats to various groups, schools, police, fire depts, boys and girls clubs etc. He said that he paid attendance was only 4,800.

Smart move to make the arena look packed with a local game vs a rival team. even by giving away free tickets they still must have made a killing with the concessions.

There were not 13k at msg. That maybe was paid which includes paid luxury box and club. Of those in attendance that were not giveaways I would bet at least 1/4 were Seton Hall fans. Let's stop going out of way to bash the Seton Hall fan base.

I thought 12 k at least when I saw the crowd. And I didn't notice any pockets of kids like we see at the rock, nor did I see them coming or going.

SHU fans have a thousand excuses. But basically, we just don't show up.

That's what happened all year, but screw what happened all year, all that matters is the next 2 games. Promotions everywhere. I don't care if the empty seat in front of me with a face value of over $60 is sold to an alum for $10. Get our people in the building this week. Who knows they might enjoy themselves and become season ticket holders next year.

Amen brother.

A lot of those tickets given to youth groups, 1st responders, etc wound up in the hands of the scalpers. My tix & everyone I spoke to bought Comp tix on the street.

Not bashing our fan base. We havent given our guys the support they deserve. Maybe not diehards like us on this board but overall our attendace is embarrassing for a third place team.

We can find everyone excuse why no one shows up tou our games ( tip times, poor opponent, tv), then find excuses why the opponent actually got fans in their seats. Ok, got it. Carry on.

The scalpers told people they were selling free tickets. I have never asked a scalper where he got his tickets, but I guess that is just me. And sju not only gave out 7k tickets but they all showed up. Not buying it, sorry.

When the ticket has a value of $0.00 and clearly says COMP it's very easy to "buy it"

I can only imagine a L to St. John's today would have kept many of the fair-weathers at home on Thursday. But there's really no excuse. We have a 7pm game vs a Providence team that's been ranked most of the season and a Sunday afternoon game against a top 10 team. It's pitiful if we can't duplicate the type of crowd we had against Nova.

Agree. 1/4 at least were wearing blue. And were more vocal, well done Pirates fans!!!

Pirates fans were there and were vocal, but not even close to sju fans.

Don't know why people are so concerned thay SJU fans made a good showing. Who cares? Props to them. I was happy we actually had some people, having sat through past games in Queens or the Garden where that wasn't so.

Now we have to pack the Rock. Nothing else to do sports wise on a late Feb night. If this season can't energize our fan base to show up, I don't know what will.

Anyone see anything on campus or hear anything on the radio promoting this week?

We need a tremendous walk up crowd because as of now ticketmaster has plenty of seats available.

Does St. John's normally draw that well at MSG? There might not have been 13K as the box score indicated but there were at least 10K.

Shocked considering they are 1-14.

*EDIT*

Ok I just did some research and the short answer is no. Sunday's attendance of 13,200 was the second most of the season. The only game to draw more was Syracuse at 13,400.

Also of note we were one of the few BIGEAST teams to play them at the garden.

I have a lot of friends who are SJU fans and sometimes go to games with them, even where they aren't playing the Hall. They draw pretty well as long as they are decent, and obviously there is a uptick when they are good, like Lavin's first season or even last year. Remember their attendance numbers, on average, will never be as high as others because the on campus facility only holds about 5000 & change, and they play a lot of games there (most of the non-conference against smaller teams, plus several BE teams).

That said, as I stated on another thread, I was shocked at how well they drew on Sunday. Was my first MSG game this year for any team. No surprise the Cuse game was higher, as I watched on TV and I'm sure that place was at least half Cuse fans, if not more.

Also I went during the Norm Roberts years and the place was usually a ghost town. Drew much better during Lavin's time, which makes sense as they had some good years.

Just bought 9 tickets for the Xavier game, if that helps.

And I've said it before, but I honestly don't understand why the Cuse/SJU contract doesn't just have every game, every year at MSG. I mean, isn't that the whole point of Cuse even agreeing to play them at all? Why bother with a game upstate at all? Is it just to keep up some charade of fairness?

The tickets are too expensive. Anything towards the middle of the court is $60+....we don't have enough of a business/corporate presence to justify those prices.

call the ticket office and get the $20 adult/$15 kids offer for the X game like we did. Sure they will probably give me corner or behind the basket tickets, but $20 for a home game on Senior Day against a potential #1 seed in the tourney is more than fair. Go move to the middle of the arena on your own into an empty seat if you don't like your view.

Just bought 10 for the Xavier game. Coming down from Boston for the fourth time this year. It seems like a decent amount of people from out of town who only go to a one or two games per year are now making the trip for the Xavier game, at least. Call the box office directly, don't fork over the TM fee.

There's about 100 seats available in those 6 sections, I think we would all be fine if those tickets were left unsold, but the corners were packed. I feel as if there is not a creative bone inside the people trying to sell these tickets. How about picking up the phone calling all incoming freshmen next year and offer them low price tickets. They have no problem calling people for a donation. Create a positive image of community before they step foot on campus. You have a little meet and greet. They get to meet future classmates. They get a taste of going to the games. You know they are rooting for SHU.
