Food for thought

This article nailed it. Explains the issue with media today far better than I can.

I don't necessarily think that the premise is wrong. "The media" would absolutely be more favorable to Obama than Trump given the same set of circumstances. In my opinion, I think that problem is cultural and news agencies competing for the most eyes. If people don't like coverage from outlet A, they will turn to outlet B.

The irony is not lost though as that article you posted regarding the distrust of media bases their premise on a false one.

The story on child detention was not killed, but factually wrong and withdrawn. The quote in the original article that was withdrawn stated that there were over 100,000 children in migration related custody currently. That is not true currently, and it was not true in 2015. The data from the UN study was actually regarding children detained at some point even if it was for a day.

That is ironic.

I read it earlier in the day. The major media outlets as you know are owned by a select few that are either way to the left or way to the right. And the owners have basically told their outlets to cover the news with a slant to their way of thinking.

You really can't trust the media anymore and its sad. Obama did some good things and it was covered much more by the left leaning media and less by the right leaning media. Trump has done some good things too even though its heresy to say that and it was covered by the right leaning media only and rarely by the left leaning media. Never the twain shall meet and always with each's hard slant and there is something seriously wrong about that.

Polling actually supports that the public mistrust of the MSM is almost as bad as Congress. Unfortunately they will continue to devolve and serve as echo-chamber outlets for their demographics to support their narratives. Last week legislation was proposed that will require insurance companies and hospitals to provide price transparency to consumers. If passed, it will be the most significant impact on empowering all healthcare consumers, more important than the ACA. Only Axios covered it.

Agreed, but that's the problem with profit being the driving force with news delivery.
If you stray away from a narrative that your viewers want, they will look somewhere else for their news. Reporting without a slant is unfortunately a horrible business model.

News should not be a "business model."

News should not be a "business model."

Yeah, that is exactly my point.
Until the public starts demanding honest reporting by tuning out of the current version of cable news, corporations offering honest/unbiased reporting doesn't really work.
