SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall baseball head coach Rob Sheppard announced Thursday that former pitching great Jon Prosinski has joined his staff as Director of Baseball Operations.

“Jon brings a wealth of baseball knowledge as a recent professional on the heels of a historic career here at Seton Hall,” Sheppard said. “We’re happy to bring back a familiar face that will undoubtedly contribute as our Director of Baseball Operations.”

One of the greatest pitchers in Seton Hall history, Prosinski made a school record 57 career starts with the Pirates over four seasons. A two-time BIG EAST First Team selection, no pitcher in Seton Hall history has thrown more innings or struck out more batters and only one pitcher has won more games.

A three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star, Prosinski blossomed into one of the most dominant pitchers in the BIG EAST as a sophomore in 2011. In 15 starts, he went 7-4 and led the conference with a miniscule 1.91 ERA. Prosinski spearheaded the best pitching staff in the BIG EAST, which lifted Seton Hall to its first conference championship since 2001. The following year, Prosinski was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection and All-NJCBA pick. The right-hander finished the season tied for the BIG EAST lead with nine wins and was eighth with 73 strikeouts against just 19 walks. Prosinski went 9-3 in 15 starts, while maintaining a 3.52 ERA.

Prior to the start of his historic senior campaign, Prosinski was named 2013 BIG EAST Preseason Pitcher of the Year and the 6-foot-3 right-hander didn’t disappoint. Appointed to the All-BIG EAST First Team for a second straight year, he was named NJCBA Pitcher of the Year and Seton Hall’s Senior Male Athlete of the Year.

Prosinski was selected in the 10th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.
