Mike Francesa, Fox finally end failed marriage

Mike Francesa’s contentious relationship with Fox Sports is mercifully over.
The WFAN host announced Wednesday that Friday would be his last show simulcast on the cable network.
“First, let me say that the blame is mine,” Francesa said. “I tried to do something a little different. The Fox guys were eager and I’m not going to say money wasn’t an issue, because it was the biggest [offer]. I had some trepidation, but I saw some promise and it just didn’t work.”
Francesa’s move from YES Network to Fox’s national cable channel in 2014 had been a disaster since the outset with middling ratings and the New York legend bickering with management and his colleagues.
Francesa was incensed his show was consistently preempted for soccer and other live programming, either demoted to FS2 or not shown on television at all.
“Sometimes things just don’t work out,” Francesa said, noting the relationship ended “amicably.”
Francesa has quieted his complaints against Fox recently, but there was little doubt tension still existed.
Francesa said he has had some preliminary discussions for his next television home, and MSG Network has been mentioned as one possible destination. But Francesa said the show will be on radio only for at least the next couple of months.
