Was not even a top 100 recruit his senior year of High School in 2011, the same class that Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Bradley Beal, Cody Zeller and Michael Carter Williams were a part of.

Also his top 5 schools were Wisconsin, Bradley, Depaul, Northern Illinois and Northwester. You never know where the next star will come from.

This just goes to show how great your coach needs to be in order to bring a team of 0 MCD AA's to the Championship game. We don't have Bo Ryan, but we have some very talented non AA's on our squad that are hungry to prove people wrong in 2015-2016.

I have confidence in our team next year, especially in Carrington, Delgado and Rodriguez to play better than they are projected to play and get us to where we need to be.

Kaminsky started a total of two games his first two years, yet didn't transfer like so many kids today would have. Instead he honored his commitment to Wisconsin and to himself. While I'm not against players leaving early for the NBA, I think Kaminsky represents what college sports is supposed to be about. You don't just give up when things don't go your way. You put your nose to the grindstone and keep on trying. He was an easy choice for Player of the Year.

Well, first of all, there is no Bo Ryan on the Seton Hall bench.

Second of all, Carrington and Delgado are projected to play pretty well next year, the question is will they? And Rodriguez is doomed to be nothing more than a 4 by Willard, that leaves his ceiling capped.

Jimsouls, as much as I would love to agree with you about Kaminski, its just not realistic in todays world. I think Wisc got a bit lucky with him(ryan can develop better than probably anyone so maybe he saw something others didnt). If this was the 80s or 90s then I would agree, but the world of college sports has changed so much since then because of the almighty dollar. Its sad, but its reality.

Yes, but our coach is the polar opposite of Bo Ryan.

Bigwig, I understand your point completely. For whatever reason, Kaminsky stuck it out and his junior and senior years are the payoff.

As for sticking it out, I remember something similar with Daryll Walker at Seton Hall. It came out during the 1988-89 season that he had entertained thoughts of transferring due to the up-and-down minutes early in his career. Walker didn't go onto the NBA, of course, but was a key member of that '89 squad. I never saw a player quite like him, as he went from being a poor defender to a lockdown one in the space of one season. He's the forgotten man on the Pirates' Final Four run.

Billy Donovan at Providence is another player who stuck it out and wound up in the Final Four. Every once in a while a player like that comes along.

Why has Kaminsky blossomed? Coaching, coaching, coaching.

Willard doesn't know how to put players in position to win either mentally or strategically. He is basically the least creative coach I have ever seen. No adjustments, no changes, just rigidly stick to a game plan he isn't good enough to master (unlike Bo Ryan).

At least if he was flexible he'd be able to find roles for players, see what works and who can do what well, etc. Maybe he wouldn't be so shell-shocked that his master plan doesn't work either if there was a bit more give-and-take with him.

Daryll Walker was the best offensive rebounder we've ever had. Or perhaps tied with Jerry Walker.

Somebody on PJ's staff worked with these guys to make their passionate efforts be even more productive.

We have not had that kind player passion or coaching in a long time.

Will have to wait for that.

I agree with Daryll Walker re his offensive rebounding. And, of course, his defense wound up being stellar. He had a strange early career at the Hall. He would look tremendous at times, then take a step back. Though not a great free-throw shooter, he had two separate streaks of making more than 20 in a row. He was an important, consistent performer on the Final Two team, yet never gets mentioned.

Every topic on this board comes back to the same thing: motivation and leadership. If your program is lacking that, then, well, then you lose 39 of your 51 Big East games over the past 3 years.

And here I was drinking the Kool-Aid that we had a guy that could run a sturdy system and develop players. Bah!

It's kind of sad that every thread turns into a Kevin Willard thread. He's returning, so people need to move on and think about other things.

Maybe so but the criticism of his coaching ability remains warranted. Coach Willard will only be at Seton Hall until the administration feels they can afford the buyout or Willard finds another job (without leaving $3m on the table).

Buckfoston, you should quit your job and play the lottery. For every Kaminsky there are a thousand Sean Grennan's. Most diamonds in the rough turn into nothing but turds no matter how much you buff them.

Bo Ryan makes 99% of all NCAA coaches look inadequate. Give it a rest.

Agree with all the accolades directed toward Daryl Walker but he was not our best offensive big man. Mark Bryant, Ramon Ramos, Anthony Avent, Jerry Walker are a few that come to mind. He was a great defender and rebounder. One thing comes to mind. SHU fell behind by 5 at the start of OT against Michigan and he got an offensive rebound that resulted in goal tending against Michigan. Ignited an 8-0 run that brought us to the brink of a national championship. Also, he had two streaks of 30+ consecutive foul shooting makes in his career.

radecicco, the statement about Walker was about his strength as an offensive rebounder, not his offense in general. I knew he had those two long free-throw streaks, didn't realize they both surpassed 30. Yes, it's about time the guy received some accolades on this board.
