Frank the Tank

Video of him celebrating at game has 400k views so far. So you're telling me the Hall couldn't get a Frank tank initiative going. Get a Quarter of those people to donate 10 bucks to see Frank happy and you got something going.

But I'm told that would be a bad thing.
What's the incentive for them to donate?

They constantly miss visibility and don't recognize the importance. I mean look at their own social media.

The point is that he has a massive platform and brings lots of eyeballs—- generally that translates to $ — it’s not rocket science
Better than nothing, but I would not expect the eyeballs to dollars translation. Not that I wouldn’t try it, because they desperately need to create any kind of buzz, but I wouldn’t expect a big return from it.

Eyeballs don't magically turn into cash. He gets us (and he already gotten us) quite a bit of media exposure, which is great, but we only make money when we convert (sell) those people. We could ask him to include a call to action (such as donate $10 to SHU athletics), but typically when a brand ask for specific content or promotion in an influencer's posts, they pay for it. At that point, whether it makes sense or not depends on his ask and how likely we would be to see a positive return.

Quite a bit for us, which is none. I don’t think it moves the needle and the guy is a joke, but it’s also 1000% worth doing for us because there is no other option. Carino’s reach is only so far, and otherwise it’s nada.

Here's the clip, I think. Has over 700K views

you're all over the board,, frankly every little bit helps and maybe you have zero clue who is watching Frank and this board and who might be contributing more .

I'm not questioning the exposure we get from him, it's great. I'm just saying the jump from watching Frank the Tank videos to buying Seton Hall basketball tickets (or donating to Seton Hall basketball) is a pretty large one, especially considering many of his followers likely aren't local to Newark or support rival schools.

Also while Frank seems to have a lot of followers, I am not sure how much he has been able to turn that into money for himself, so going to be hard to get those same people who have no connection to SHU to donate to our NIL.

You do a tiered fundraiser where the more money we raise the bigger the spectacle it is when we feature Frank at the game. If we raise 1 mil we get a Tank for him him to sit on. Then all his fans and especially the big money coworkers at Barstool get involved.

I don’t like to pile on the school but they are so lost here..it’s not a direct Frank the tank will cure NIL…that’s foolish..but he is a big brand inside of a monster brand and we have less than zero juice whatsoever

We should lean into him at all costs

Why does Pitino go on BT & Sal midday show (possibly the worst sports talk radio show of all time btw) or go on BT podcast or why is there a St Johns show on vice? They have nil money…it’s about juice and exposure and seeming to be “big time”

We need that so badly

Calipari doing that Vice show for Arkansas too.

Seton Hall admin loves reasons for why not vs just actioning. Paralysis by analysis. The old "know too much" am I right @Halldan1?

It’s amazing when you see GoFundMe crap out there and it exceeds expectations.

If Frank did a video saying how much he likes Sha and SHU and $10 donated would make Frank “do something” to support, pretty much guarantee you the minimum raised is 6-figures.

Some people would drop more than $10, maybe $20. People buy stupid shit. People like Frank and Barstool.

If it raised $1,300, isn’t that $1,300 more than we had yesterday? What if it raised $1.3m?

But doing NOTHING to try to convert (sell) those people is stupid.

No one reasonable thinks that it would be a huge, repeatable windfall. But would someone “click here to help Frank yada yada” get some to donate $10?

Hell, work it out with Frank for the “Help Frank get The Prime Block location on the SHU Wall” for $10. I guarantee you people donate to that. The worst? The block wall has a single 3-line block like any other that says “Frank the Tank is Hall In” and it would be in a prime location on the wall.

I’ll say it again. PEOPLE BUY DUMB SHIT! If some barstool kid is watching a video of Frank talking about the Hall and how he’s gonna get “this block” in a prime location if he can raise $1m, and they can click a button to give $5, $10, $20 or other, IT WOULD RAISE SOMETHING,

McBride has no-showed on donor calls and never reached out to reschedule with folk. Guys clueless and a jerk

Having met him on a couple of occasions, he is certainly not clueless or a jerk. I don't know about the first sentence; with your track record, probably made that up, too.

Not one person is saying he is the answer. What we are saying is that he has a massive social media presence that can assist us in raising some money.

I can explain social media to you if you need help.
Please do, because -- as far as I know -- his persona as a SHU fan, with the large following, hasn't generated a dime for us. As a fan, I would presume that he knows we need money and has not used whatever influence he has to raise any.

The school turned down an NIL fundraiser with him.

How can anyone look at that video and think "this guy is the answer to our NIL problems."?
No one said it's the answer but that man gets views if you like it or not. For f sake even the annoying Costco guy and his son went to seton hall and he collabs and pimps out himself non stop. Telling me you couldn't get him to do one of his videos to promote the team and NIL?

Is that public knowledge? I hadn't read that here. But as an influencer, does he need the school to ask? To his credit, he has generated all these followers on his own/in conjunction with Barstool. Did SHU turn down the fundraiser because he also had his hand out?

I'm not saying don't try, I'm just saying temper your expectations. A six figure return on a $10 ask based on Frank's viewership would take an exceptional conversion rate. Or being amplified by the main Barstool account. And for all we know, maybe they did try. Maybe they asked and Frank said no. Maybe they asked and Frank named his fee and we balked. We don't know.
