John summed up SHU’s offense in one sentence: they have no one to throw the ball into (down low) and no one who can throw the ball.
He also accurately observed the problems with NIL. The guys you bring in and pay sometimes don’t pan out. That describes us and also RU’s supporting cast around Ace and Harper.

While there is some truth in that, it seems John is searching for excuses for our school.
UGA also spent the first few days in Indianapolis with us and are doing more than fine, although their SEC funding levels are certainly at another level.

I'm not sure the timing is a problem there. Pitino was mocked here for basically giving that as one of the reasons they weren't going to play in the NIT last year. When in reality they had all these 1 year eligibility kids he brought over to form a roster year 1, and some of those kids had legit professional options, so it seemed pretty clear they wanted to move forward with that aspect of their lives rather than play and risk injury in a relatively meaningless tournament.
But Fanta is far more dialed in on this stuff than me, so who knows.
I don’t know. I see both sides but if you have a chance to go for a championship and pass on it, what’s the point of all this?
Then why wasn’t the staff bring proactive even before the season ended about the plan for the offseason. UCONN had one assistsnt in charge of the portal. They didn’t wait until they won to then start recruiting. Towards the end of the season should have had an idea about who was coming back and have a list ready to go of potential athletes that were planning to enter the portal with back up plans. We only played 1 game a week in the Nit. One coach scouts for the game the other two need to be recruiting.
Great listen. Hard to believe Fanta is only 29. Mature beyond his years. Easy to tell he's a student of broadcasting. Genuine, humble and appreciative. A real credit to Setonia.
