So, Boston College is about to take a $7 million haircut.

You hate to see it....

Edit: it looks like the exit fees are also being reduced.

Old friend CL, you sound like all my 50 year UCONN buddies. You all can't let go of the Eagles getting the AC nod and "blocking" UCONN's entry into the ACC. The Eagles are awful year in and year out, yet the coffers get filled with conference riches. The sad part is the Huskies would of been a better partner for the ACC. Does this stem the potential defection of the ACC football blue bloods to "greener" pastures? Maybe short term yes but long term they're gone. UCONN football has to continue to get better and build off a good year. The slop schedule they play is in place for 2025 with an uptick to more formidable scheduling (lot of ACC squads) in 2026.

No, no I cannot.

Agree with the rest of your post as well. This deal smacks of throwing the lifeboats off a sinking ship in order to keep it afloat a little while longer.

Connecticut is in a weird place with the ACC in that for us to get a slot. We need some of the existing teams to leave, but we don't want too many to leave because then it would not be worth joining.

I've said this before, but I'll believe we are joining a P4 conference when they're painting the logo on the floor at Gampel. In the meantime, we're enjoying the Big East, well, other than playing in Newark....

Hopefully, we can return the favor when you guys come to our house. I'd be lying if I said, I wasn't concerned about it. I thought you were going to get the win against St. John's. This year's version of the Pirates has its moments. And when those moments get strung together, you are a dangerous team.

Interesting. Probably ensures stability until 2030/31. In addition to three of the four power football conferences’ media rights deal coming up for renewal, so does the BE media rights deal. All bets are off as to what happens then.

Clemson and FSU got clarity on how they can exit in terms of costs and in the short tern a chance to enhance their revenue sharing coffers.

Although I haven't seen this written anywhere, I would guess that in exchange for that they are acknowledging the validity of the agreement and all the actions of the conference in implementing it and various media contracts.

Always love your take. As for moments, my favorite moment (other than beating the Huskies with all my Conn buddies - having invited them as my guest to the Rock) is when the season is finished. Really tough year and I date back to 74 with the Pirates. I usually go to the Hall/UCONN game with them but I can't take going into the Belly of the Beast (aka Gampel) to see a beat down in person. Taking my wife and our two grand daughters to Shen Yen in Stamford and dropping them off. I'll go to Bobby Valentines and watch the game in relative quiet by myself while drowning in beers. I might go postal if I see Big Red one more time.

As James Carville once said to candidate Bill Clinton: "It's football, stupid"..... or something like that.
