Get ready for congress rhetoric next 3 weeks

I don't see any reason to give stimulus checks to people not affected by this, basically people who haven't lost their jobs/still collecting Social Security, etc.

The unemployment part was done stupidly the first time, this time I like the make whole up to a certain percentage though, but should be more than 70%, something like 80% so it provides a benefit but doesn't disincentivize work.

What a bunch of duplicitous hypocrites from all sides. And no more executive actions, these should all be illegal and always should have been. The president is not a dictator and does NOT make law.

Here woud be my plan:

Stimulus check maximum payment amount = None.

How much stimulus money you get for dependents = None.

Enhanced unemployment benefit = Up to $600 per week to match 80% of lost wages when added to state benefits.

How long enhanced unemployment lasts = Expires December 31.

Paycheck Protection Program = None.

Employee tax credit = None.

Bonus for employees who start new jobs or are rehired = None.

Eviction protections and moratorium = None, persuad renters and landlords to work things out amicably.

School reopening = None, not a federal issue.

Liability protection from coronavirus illness = 5-year liability shield to prevent schools, businesses, hospitals, from being sued over coronavirus-related issues.

Coronavirus testing = $10 billion.

No reason people like me and you who haven't lost our jobs should get a stimulus check. Shore up those who have lost their jobs with fiar unemployment proposals. PPP still has funds available. The rest is complete "we must do something" fluff.

Spk here is an issue that will be real for so many....people will not have same job/career sector to go back to at a compensation level of even a 10 percent less factor in many areas.
Yes life you have to battle through adversity but many in the age 35 to 50 crowd now got to pick up new course and certificate merit to even gain a basic tier role in another career path.

Do you really feel 600 usd by fed to those still out of work is doable thru end of calendar year 20?

Say someone was a 40 usd per hour worker who worked 52 weeks a year no OT wouldn't 1k per week gross be a good baseline for pandemic relief between state unemployment and any fed surplus help?

Sorry for the delay, went to Delaware Park as I had a horse racing today.

Under my plan and assuming NJ, that worker would now get $1,280 a week, why are you so cruel, LOL?

I think it is just a bit more complex than that. When the economy takes a hit like this, it does impact everyone. Not everyone equally, but there are those working now for decreased hours or decreased wages for example.

Even then though, the stimulus isn’t meant to be a social safety net, is to give people money so they put it back into the economy. It creates some certainty that people will have money to spend which allows companies to plan for that instead of uncertainty about consumer confidence and spending.

In fact, I believe we should have given much more than we did and should have given it every month during the pandemic and encourage those who don’t need it to spend it in their local communities to keep small businesses alive.

Right, no money to people not affected. If you were living on your wage and didn't lose your job, why do you beed a subsidy. To me, this was just a way to get more of the money from the first package to republican states. The level of blue state subsidies to red states isnt big enough yet.

Imagine fatso dopey don if his friends subsidized his opponents.. laughable .

Like the deduction for property taxes??
That is a great example. Like it or not, we pay higher taxes. Taxes have been dedectable till recently. A sick person may get a bigger medical deduction than a healthy person, and why does a guy with ten children who go to public school get deductions for then all? But, that is how it has been.

The new tax law is exactly what I am talking about. The couple in fla with a thousand a yr in taxes had their standard deduction doubled to 24k. Guys like me just pay more.

Even with our state and local taxes deductible, we still subsidized half of the red states. Now, even moreso.

I understand you political pov, but it is easy to see your side is picking your picket.

And let's not even talk about deficits. They stopped mattering when the chap 11 king got elected. I wonder how often Obama deficits were railed against here, even though he inherited a mess from the repub pres before him, the guy who couldn't wait even a year to unbalance the budget.

Spk is one of the best people I know. (Bobbie solo is saying I don't get out much...lol). We agree on next to nothing politically. I still love that guy!!!

My POV is flat tax, some agreed upon exclusion (1st $35,000??) no deductions, all income treated the same, one rate.

Deficits haven't mattered in years and years and it's sickening. Repubs say that want to lower spending and limit government and do just the opposite when they get in power. Dems openly tell you they are going to spend even more and rape your wallet in the process while you watch.

I love you big guy, consider you even more than a good friend, even if you are a Rutgers fan!!
