I hate to break it to the chat. But what's happening today in that NYC is a direct result of global warming. We caused this! Please continue to stay indoors and where an N 95 of going outside. Thus will be a fairly common occurrence going forward.

What is this authors credentials? Is she a meteorologist? A scientist? Note the top of the article that this is an opinion post.

I will stick listening to the experts? Please confirm this authors credentials. Thanks!

Forest fires are a huge sign of climate change as well. Who would have ever thought New York would look like mars? As it mentioned in the article above, this could be the summer of smoke.

The problem for some is any bad storms etc. is the result of climate change. We had bad fires in the past and terrible storms before anyone ever talked about climate change.Paul Erlich said in 1979 the world would end by 2000 Because of population explosion.AOC says the world will end in 10 years unless we go to zero emissions.Forgetting her childlike understanding of weather I am sure in 10 years she will say 2043 is the end date.Even if you believed this erroneous prediction if China and India don’t decrease their emissions ( and they won’t) then if US did it would change nothing. These prophets of doom feel no shame in their alarmists predictions that never materialize and go right on to the next prediction of doom.Don’t listen to them let the adults handle it.It is more likely the world ends from nuclear war than climate change and nuclear war is greatest extinction threat.Hopefully the old negro spiritual “ God Gave Noah The Rainbow Sign No More Water ,The Fire Next Time” does not come true.

Yes, AOC is my go to expert on all scientific matters.

It is how I learned about the global threat of bovine flatulence.

There is a cow pasture behind our house. Thanks to her, I now know to wear a hazmat suit and oxygen tank when I go outside.

You're a wacko/nut job!

Nope. Far from it. I listen to meteorologist and scientists. Is AOC your expert? If so, just wow.
I think we throw the word experts around pretty loosely. Meteorologists are now experts? Oh brother. The experts kept children home from school when they didn't have to. How many things were we told about the vaccines by experts that were proven untrue. The beauty of science is we continue to learn and in many cases what we know as science today will be proven wrong 200 years from now.

If you’re not even the slightest skeptical that all of these fires across Canada started at the same time , shame on you

What experts are these exactly? Do you have any links? I'd be interested in reading have a forest fire is a climate phenomena.

I found this to be a very interesting line in the article. Not sure if shufan1993 considers this an article from experts but it says...

What's the connection between climate change and wildfires?

Wildfires are not caused by climate change, they are part of Earth's natural cycles and are increasingly started by humans either intentionally or accidentally.

That is true. Wildfires existed before we were here and will continue after we are gone. Forest fires are not a part of global warming. With that said, forest fires getting worse IS a part of global warming. A warming earth creates a more favorable environment for the fires to thrive and get worse than they may have otherwise been.

There are plenty of studies on this topic.

You can simply use Google to find this information. There are plenty of resources out there that confirm the heat and droughts caused by global warming are increasing the amount of wild fires throughout the world. And unfortunately, this might be a new normal for us this summer. Canadian wild fires don't peak until July.

You can find anything you want to find in a google search. I just found an article that says global warming is not causing wild fires. Who is right? Who is wrong?

Sure, but if we were that concerned why don't we have people going through these forests and removing dead trees. We can limit them from getting worse if we did that. That's a small simple, job creating change. We don't do the little things and we expect the big things to be done.

We do.

It's not really simple due to the magnitude and along with warming comes the potential for more drought and more dead trees which only makes this get worse as time goes by and the earth gets warmer.

Obviously we need to do better.

This just sounds like a problem that can be treated with more jobs. Imagine instead of 87000 new IRS agents, we had 87000 new workers keeping the earth clean. Not to mention This just happened in Canada. Not exactly a mecca of heat.

You know it's not 87,000 new agents right? That's been debunked many times.

and in any case, the amount of money it would take to address the hundreds of millions of dead trees in the millions of acres that would need to be covered would absolutely dwarf what the IRS asked for. No one would support it. We don't spend on preventative measures. We'll only spend to deal with the obvious consequences later.

Canada had a warmer and dryer spring then normal then some lightning storms. The result is these fires.

Global warming has caused an increase in the seriousness of wild fires and the number of wild fires due to the increase of droughts in the world.
Then tell us how forest fires themselves are a huge sign of global warming as you claimed earlier.

So you don't have any that you were basing your opinion on. OK, interesting.

The heat from climate change will continue to increase the risk of dangerous wild fires

This thread… lol.

Climate is changing. That’s a fact.

There is absolutely nothing we can do to stop it.

We can work around the fringes to try to slow things down.

We can also work around the fringes to prepare for the inevitable.

There is a lack of financial, human capital and inertia for any real material change.

Global warming it’s just another dog whistle topic for politicians. It’s also a topic, where cannot only advance their agendas, but profit from their policies.
