The 2014-15 year was another to remember in Seton Hall Athletics, as the Pirates continued to rise in their second year as a member of the revamped BIG EAST Conference.

Highlighted by three NCAA Regional berths (Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Women's Golf),there was no shortage of memorable moments across all 14 varsity athletic programs as Seton Hall student-athletes continued to honor and further the University's proud athletic tradition.

Over three weeks, SHUPirates.com in conjunction with BURG will reveal its countdown of the year that was.

GOLDEN REPEAT

Reaching the top of the mountain is a long, difficult process in any athletic pursuit. Perhaps more challenging however is maintaining a place at the summit once you have arrived.

As a sophomore in 2013-14, Gabby Signorelli made Seton Hall history by capturing the first two individual diving titles for the women's swimming and diving program. In the first year of a re-constituted BIG EAST Conference, Signorelli thoroughly out-performed the competition, cruising to a pair of gold medals from the one and three meter boards.

When it came time to hand out the Most Outstanding Female Diver award, there was little suspense left in the Villanova Swim Center.

This past February, the championship setting shifted to Ithaca, N.Y. but the scene at the end of diving competition was a familiar one.

Signorelli entered the meet as the prohibitive favorite on the strength of her performance throughout a standout regular season in which she established new personal bests and led the Pirates in every event in which she competed.

The second day of the four-day competition saw the women take to the three meter board where the Massapequa native finished more than 90 points clear of the top performer from a rival institution the year before.

Signorelli improved her individual mark by over 35 points, recording a score of 533.75 that was nearly 60 points clear of runner-up Sarah Jaklitsch of Georgetown.

After sealing one back-to-back title reign in dominant fashion, Signorelli stepped onto the one-meter board on the final day of the meet with an opportunity to make yet more history.

With just one event separating the junior from a second consecutive golden sweep, Signorelli went on to cement her status as the class of the conference with a 536.15 mark that was almost 55 points better than Lauren Kahn (Georgetown) in second place.

With the victory, Signorelli became just the third four-time BIG EAST champion in Seton Hall history, joining SHU Athletics Hall of Famer Jen Heider and teammate Ben Mitchell who was similarly excellent from the diving board on the men's side.

The showing earned Signorelli another Most Outstanding Female diver honor. Now a four-time All-BIG EAST honoree, Signorelli went on to be the league's lone representative at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships.

With her name already littered across the championship banners that hang high inside Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium, the rising senior will return in 2015-16 looking to become the first Pirate to win as many as five conference titles for The Hall.

Also still out there is cracking the school record board where Brittany Hervey remains the standard-setter. If the last two years are any indication however, no record is safe.
