Good Read on Hobbs

I don't care about him. I wish him good health. He was put in a rediculous position by shu admin and made a bad decision. What he does over there is not something that I care about. If I were a RU fan his hiring would not make me happy.

"Though a registered Democrat, Hobbs became a confidante of Gov. Chris Christie. The Republican governor tapped Hobbs to serve on his transition team and named him SCI chairman in 2010."

THIS is the ELEPHANT in the room (pardon the pun). CC wants us to believe that he had nothing to do with the hire. Heck, the fact that the guy was one of his buddies/cronies/"confidantes" has absolutely, positively nothing to do with the fact that Barchi picked the guy. All this despite Barchi's braying that RU is big-time Big Ten now and needs to act like B10. If that were the case, he would be seeking top AD talent, not some guy who once was the interim AD at a third-tier school like Seton Hall."

Third tier school like Seton Hall???? Really? Has she not noticed what their teams look like recently?

I would be pretty pissed if I was a big Rutgers supporter. The management of that department in the Barchi Era has been a disaster. The department is at a crossroads and they pick a novice like this?

However, I do think if there's anyone who could figure it out, it's Hobbs. The bureaucracy and resources there will be interesting for him to navigate. He's high energy, focused, and he's wanted to be in big time administration of sports, as the current SHU Law School Dean also pointed out.

The Willard move has not worked out here. He's a big Wilard guy. Not sure what other options he reasonably had at the time given where this program was with the leadership dysfunction and locker room messes, but he was blown away by Willard.

The big challenge for Hobbs will be to navigate the politics at RU and the divergent power groups each with a different agenda when it comes to athletics. Not an easy task for anyone while you're trying to make your football program relevant again and find a head coach that satisfies the masses. I'm sure there will be times when Hobbs will feel like he's been thrown into the ring to face the lions in the Coliseum .

Christie has plenty of these henchmen types who wind up in the PA, NJSEA or Water and Sewerage Commissions. Anybody think David Wildstein was qualified for Director of Capital Improvements or Jon Hanson on Sports, Gaming and Tourism who keeps recommending the State put more $$$ into Atlantic City?

75, Jack Welch former CEO of GE states in his best selling book you want to be a manager? A bad decsion is better than no decision! LOL!

If she thinks we're third tier what the hell does that make Rutgers!? One hundred and third tier at least!

He was a fine dean for the law school. He sucked as an athletic director which I had no idea he was. I thought he just led the committee who searched for the BB coach which in the end Pitino picked. RU can have him and may he do as well for their athletic department as he did for ours.

This appointment has Christie written all over it. Shame that blowhard can control RU. On second thought good appt. Gov.
