Grayson Allen

Man, makes Laetner look good - almost. And did I read that is the second time he has tripped someone?

Not as bad as when Diamond Stone from Maryland smashed a Wisconsin player's head to the floor. He was hit with a technical, but wasn't thrown out of the game because it was a flat hand hit not a fist. LOL The B1G suspended him the next day. So maybe the ACC makes it right too. But then again, this is Duke.

Hopefully, they come to a decision after the Pitt game, tomorrow.
We're fighting with Pitt for a bid and for seeding. A pitt win against Duke would punch their ticket and improve their seeding.

Can't believe there is a thread here on this after the sorrowful history on the court with SH players.

Is that really much worse than Josh Harts trip at the Rock last year? I'm not sure if that warrants a suspension but it definitely deserved a technical.

actually, it appears to be the second time this season. If so, suspension definitely in order a minimum.

Hoops, congrats to you for bringing that up; what a crumbbun move that was, and it received absolutely zero publicity in the media. If anything, that guy has been lionized as a wonderkind by the patronizing motormouths on TV

Halftime of Monmouth and studio announcers said no suspension BUT Coach K apologized. Yahoo!

Breaking News - ACC issues 3 paragraph statement concerning incident. Case closed. For the PC crowd this is like receiving a participation trophy or receiving a "bad boy" from your mother.

I guess we are not surprised.

Not surprised. It's the second time he did it intentionally and that is why he should be suspended. But Puke and Swofford are scumbags so not surprised by the outcome. Watch now. It will be this year or next when an opposing player retaliats against this kid and he will get suspended and not Allen.

Just got to see the video. What an obvious trashy move. How can any coach see that and not take some meaningful disciplinary action? Need to send this kid a serious message before someone really does get hurt. I guess for Meany coaches it all about winning and protecting your record than teaching life lessons even though you have a kid who really needs one now. What a shame.

Holier than thou K setting the example.

The world of college BB is petrified of this phony!

112 nails it on all counts.

We do not have a win-at-all-costs culture. Anytime we have a player who pulls a dirty trick of some kind, I am (and I trust almost all of us are) deeply ashamed.

It's a hill too far for me.

It's why I will always root for any team making a run in the tournament where they exhibit sportsmanship. It leads to interesting conflicts, for example, there are teams I historically detest, but this year have elite players who are don't pull BS stuff like the Pukes, so it's hard to root fully-throated against them.

Grayson seems a spoiled punk. But we watched a kid punch a guy in the head and many made excuses for him.

Agreed. Sometimes the home team bias on here is beyond absurd. I only saw the play. Were those guys being chippy with each other all game? Here's the deal if SHU gets into a second altercation at the handshake line should someone be suspended? It's a slippery slope of you keep going down that road. I think the play was dirty, that's the purpose of the flagrant foul. Use it. In the heat of the moment shit happens and more often than you think it happens a second and third time, just not usually in a couple game span. Nobody on here has gone out of character in the heat of the moment of playing a sport? I know I did a few times. It happens.

Or worse, this kid's actions cause someone a season ending injury! They need to sit his ass but the Pukies won't do that.

Yes it does and in Allen's case shit happens twice.

And now that the ACC has set a precedent does that mean all players get two tripping violations before facing serious punishment in a 3rd case?

Dan I think if you call the flagrant properly it will take care of itself. I don't think the trip is as malicious as punching someone or kicking someone like you would kick a soccer ball. I think we've all gotten more physical than necessary in chippy situations. As you made mention in another thread Mullin was throwing elbows in the old big east. I'm not saying that was right either, but I don't think every dirty play is suspension worthy. When the hatred of the old big east used to come out, that's what made it so popular and made those rivalries so intense. In today's world the old Georgetown and St John's teams would be down to 3 scholarship players each with all the suspensions they would have.
