You miss the points
aounda like they missed the shooter. half the country doesnt want to defund the police. penn station is the busiest commuting hub in the country cant be having that.

i get the general sentiment that defunding and cancelling is causing a problem but its not a free pass to phone it in. thats not right either.

at some point you have to do the job youre being paid to doni guess. but i agree with the general sentiment
You can try hiring new people but no one wants the job anymore. Anyone who has ever run anything understands that yes you need to sometimes correct mistakes and behavior but you also need to let people know you appreciate them. Humans do not respond well to a toxic work environment. The leadership in this country has create this environment, and guys like Mayor Bill have help take it to new local levels.

No win situation for NYC police, if they chase the guy down and God forbid shoot him, people will say was that really necessary. If the police officer is fast enough to catch the criminal and not get killed himself the shooter will probably be released on no bail anyway. Right now is a good time to be a criminal. As prices escalate for inflation so will crime.

NYC in a death spiral. It's only going to get worse.

I get a kick out of the original post.

First, the OP who has likely never wore a badge or otherwise performed any kind of police work is critical of the police

Second, assuming for a moment that there was an officer nearby and you hear a gunshot and see somebody go down would you prefer that they chase the gunman or provide first aid to the fallen person. Unless the officer was right there and saw it happen by the time he got to the site of the incident the perp was long gone.

Third, I'm still curious why anyone is concluding that it was an illegal gun. Perhaps I missed something in the original tweet but I don't recall seeing that. That being said even if it was illegally owned gun odds are they don't have a carry permit for New York City and hence that aspect is illegal. But then again that shows that gun laws aren't going to solve this problem.

Most likely you will not get a response

This idea that if someone was not in law enforcement that they can't render an opinion is so silly. Two of my uncles were NYPD. I am not anti cop. Cops need to be part of the community and stop politicizing all the BS occuring.

Please provide your Uncles with your critique and then let us know what they say.

Absolutely hard to believe the people of New York could vote mayor Bill in for a second term, just incomprehensible. Same people who voted for him and to defund the police have since left town. The social science experiment has gone bad and now innocent people pay the price. Whether you are pro or anti cop, no one in their right mind would want that job under the current administration. Going to take years to correct the damage done by some super stupid people. He still has time left to cement his policies and cause more damage. Starting to look like other 3rd rate cities SF, Chicago, LA.

These things are going cycles. Until NYC elects another Giuliani, it will continue to be a shit hole.

de Blasio doing a horrible job getting the social workers out into the rough neighborhoods. So sad. If we could have some well trained individuals just talk to these bad people we'd live in peace, love, and harmony.

social workers do provide a valuable role but you never bring a knife to a gun fight.
