A day later, what a game yesterday, huh? EPIC. More than 13k at the Garden and we blow a 19-point lead and have to overcome a 3-point deficit in the final minute.
Then the postgame shenanigans.
We'd be watching the window sills today if we lost that game and because we won we can talk about the excitement. High drama for sure. The most nerve-wrenching game in recent years given all that was on the line.
Another test for this SHU team.
It was just a miserable experience watching that 2nd half on Sunday. You could see it coming a mile
away. I really felt the refs completely changed the landscape of that game with some of the softest fouls you will see. Seton Hall did not respond well. I don't think the coach did his best job against SJU.
SJU played solid defense for most of the game except for allowing Desi open looks in the first half.
That's a team that you have to blitz from the outside. I can't understand why Singh can't be out there more than that few minutes at the 14 minute mark. You have to show a team different looks on offense just like football.
Just the threat of an outside shooter changes the dynamic. Yes, he misses shots, but do they ever set up a play for the guy? He doesn't destroy us on defense from what I've seen. Why can't he play just a few minutes in the 2nd half when the offense is going flat?
At some point our frontcourt had to pull the ball out and set up instead of getting rejected time after time. I give SJU all the credit in the world for their defensive game plan.
I thought having Delgado come back in with 8 minutes was just crazy. In fairness he never was in the flow because of the foul trouble.
With IW have an off day from a shooting standpoint it added up to a rough day for Pirate Nation.
The coaches need to have a better strategy next time in advance in case the officials sabotage the game. There were some bad calls that also went our way too. They don't all even out though because SHU probably would have won by 10-15 if the game maintained the proper path.
Anyway, we dodged a brutal loss. I guess DePaul is the only remaining awful loss left this season from an RPI standpoint.
Deep breath and we move on to Providence.
