SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team got a late goal from sophomore John Philbin (Emmaus, Pa.) to pick up a 2-2 draw against Fordham in an exhibition contest on Thursday night at Owen T. Carroll Field. The goal came in the 95th minute of a time-modified 100-minute contest.

The Pirates went ahead with a goal from sophomore Nick Najera (Laguna Hills, Calif.) in the 53rd minute before the Rams struck for two unanswered tallies in the 65th and 67th minutes. The contest was the first exhibition match for both sides.

Turning Point

Trailing by a goal with five minutes to play, Seton Hall earned a corner kick that was served in by freshman Spencer Burkhardt (Palmyra, Pa.). After a scramble in front, Philbin tapped home the equalizing goal to push the score to 2-2 and force the eventual draw.

Inside The Numbers- Nick Najera scored the opening goal in his first official game action as a Pirate
- John Philbin was the lone Pirate to play all 100 minutes and scored a goal after not recording a point during a BIG EAST All-Rookie campaign in 2014
- Samuel Geiler assisted on Najera's goal; Geiler dished out five assists in 2014
- After trailing shots 6-3 after the first, the Pirates out-shot the Rams 13-6 the rest of the way
- The Hall held a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal
- Julian Spindler made two saves in 40 minutes during a scoreless opening period

Was told by someone who was at the game it was a very even contest. I have no idea about the playing time of the regulars on ether team or how good Fordham is.
