isnt our game with st. johns at MSG this year? i dont think we lose that one. it makes a lot more sense that our 10th loss possibly causing us an ncaa bid would come at the very last game at depaul
 
Anywhere from 5-13 to 8-10. I'm pretty sure I know what SH is about, just not sure about teams like Georgetown, Providence & Marquette. Those are 3 critical Ws to a successful season. Plus, close Ws mean good FT shooting and SH hasn't proven that from the line yet. I hope I'm wrong on all counts because if I'm right it will be another miserable season and I don't need that right now.

9-9 after a 3-1 start. That 3-game stretch in January starting in Providence is absolutely brutal. Because we have St. John's scheduled in good spots and a more talented, deep team, we can break the losing streaks and avoid the all-out implosion, LOL.

I have us being swept by Villanova, Butler, and Xavier and sweeping St. John's, Marquette and DePaul based on match-ups. Split with Georgetown, Providence, and Creighton.

Ugh, I didn't even realize our last game is at Depaul, probably the last place I'd want to play. At least Jaime Crockett is gone. Sigh.
 
I'd agree with the 9-9 but think 10-8 is a real possibility. This team is gonna need to be very tough to make that happen and I think they have some tough kids who are gonna play very hard this year. Just not sure if they will play smart enough but the heart is certainly there. Should be interesting to see how things play out.

Still think 8-10 as the most realistic expectation for this team. If we beat Marquette on the road then 9-9 is a possibility. If we beat 2 of the top 4 teams once then at 9-9 we're a potential bubble team.

I think most of the season will go according to script. Being swept by Xavier, Villanova, Providence. Sweeping St John's, DePaul and Creighton. But here are the toss up games which either will make the season or break the season.

Swing Games that Make or Break the season

Dec 30 at Marquette. Lose here and you are looking at 2-5 to start the season which could destroy a fragile psyche.
Feb 3 Marquette Home: Sweeping Marquette gives a huge advantage to Seton Hall finishing in top tier of the Big East.
Feb 6th Georgetown Home. The team needs to win a game against what is perceived right now as one of the upper tier teams in the Big East. Need to split series.
Feb 10 Butler Home Can Seton Hall beat another good team at home to have a chance to be over .500 in conference play.

Things break bad Seton Hall ends up 8-10, Things break well 9-9. Things go incredible 10-8

I think the way our team is made up we match up better with Butler than ever. Butler plays ugly and physical and I think we do too. We will beat Butler at home. It will come down to our ability to win a few squeakers that will make or break this season. If we can find a way to slug a few out down the stretch that will bode well for our team.
 
9-9 Need to win 2 games in BE tournament to be sure to make ncaa. If close, BE teams will get in.

disagree. we will lose those games anyway. if we are @ depaul mid season i think we beat them. Depaul being the last game (again) sort of gives it the feeling that something might go wrong yet again.
 
Fair enought. I just think we should win those games, and if we need a W we have a chance to get it. Against Nova @ Nova we pretty much have a low probablity of winning so I wouldn't want to go into that game needing a W.

yea different scenario. if everything went as he planned, the W @ depaul earlier in the season would probably mean losing to Butler and that Nova wouldn effect our status, but maybe our moral.

I don't see that happening at all. We'll win some we aren't "supposed" to win and vice versa.
 
I tend to agree.

Seldom does a middle of the pack team's schedule go according to plan.

Agree. When they shoot and bring the D, they can pull an upset, but I can also see FT shooting costing some games that were expected to be wins.
 
10-8 Is a reasonable and attainable achievement for this team. This is not a team of with a pedigree of the last several years.
