Just spoke to the school as I wanted to discuss the issues that many of you have here.

The expected revenue sharing bill most likely will pass this week. The judge involved is retiring and this is her last case. So she is staying until it's completed.

The school is absolutely not holding off from accepting recruits waiting on the passing of the bill but I was told it's a dead period and the staff cannot talk to players until Friday. With that said the school is expecting two commits hopefully next week from power 5 schools.

We expect to have $5M NIL money this year and will build on that number next year.

The 50 State Challenge will conclude midnight tonight. It will not be extended. Later this afternoon I will post states that are needed. But I will be out of the house until approx 5PM

Again, split your donation to hit all the Challenges.

If you have any questions call Niko at 973 275 6446

Who is giving you this info on the judge?

With Wilken concerned about the building's impending closure for the day, the principals and the objectors' lawyers agreed that the principals would get back to Wilken in a week with word of how they can address the issues raised. From there, the objectors would have one day to respond to any new changes to the deal.

There is no dead period. There has been deals being struck all week behind the scenes.

Kentucky is out in the open. Todd Golden face timing potential transfers Monday night /early Tuesday morning from the River Walk does not sound like dead period.

Any school that is adhering to the “dead period” label is going to be behind the 8 ball.

Instead of Dead Period they should call it The Fast and Furious Behind The Scenes Dealmaking Period.

This is the Wild Wild West era.

The transfer portal remains alive and well and in a live ongoing window...high school recruits is dead period because nabc just had their big weekend at final four

2024-25 NCAA Recruiting Calendar and Recruiting Guide

IMG baseball player
The NCAA Recruiting Calendars outline when—and how—NCAA D1 and D2 college coaches can proactively start recruiting athletes. However, the dates don’t represent when student-athletes should start certain recruiting steps. As early as eighth grade, families begin researching colleges, evaluating what division level is best for their athlete, ensuring they are on the path to NCAA eligibility and even proactively reaching out to college coaches.

Overall, the NCAA Recruiting Calendars seek to protect elite athletes from receiving overwhelming amounts of communication from college coaches by designating certain time periods when coaches cannot contact athletes. The NCAA explains, “Recruiting calendars help promote the well-being of prospective student-athletes and coaches and ensure competitive equity by defining certain time periods in which recruiting may or may not occur in a particular sport.”

Insider Tip: No matter the time or date, you as a student-athlete can always initiate contact with a coach. The rules only enforce when coaches can initiate contact with you. Check out our tips for contacting college coaches.

How to use the NCAA Recruiting Calendars
Use the recruiting calendar alongside the NCAA Recruiting Rules. The NCAA Recruiting Calendars show the specific recruiting time periods throughout the year when coaches can contact athletes—and when coaches aren’t allowed to contact athletes.

Generally speaking, the most important dates on the calendar will be June 15 or September 1 (depending on your sport), going into the athlete’s junior year of high school.

For most sports, this is when coaches can start reaching out to recruits.

Key terms in the NCAA Recruiting Calendars
To better understand the NCAA Recruiting Calendars, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the following terms:

Evaluation period
Contact period
Dead period
Quiet period

As you look through the NCAA Recruiting Calendar for your sport, keep an eye out for some of the particular days that stand out within each period.

For example, you may have a quiet period from September 1 through November 25, but within that time span, there will be a designated number of evaluation days in which coaches can assess either your athletic or academic qualifications in person.

For more specific dates, find your sport-specific calendar below.

NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Recruiting Calendar
For the men’s basketball recruiting evaluation periods, there are two different kinds of evaluation periods that take place. During the April evaluations, coaches can only evaluate recruits at NCAA-certified events. If you are on an AAU team or participating in a club basketball tournament at that time, chances are, it’s an NCAA-certified event. You can always double check if the event is NCAA-certified before you attend.

During the remainder of the evaluation periods, all live evaluations must take place at a regularly scheduled high school, prep school or two-year college tournament, practice or game. Again, it’s important to know when the evaluations can happen, but chances are, the coach will let you know when they plan to visit you during this time.

August 1 – September 3, 2024: Quiet period
Exception: August 6–20, 2024: Dead period
September 4 – April 30, 2024: Recruiting period (Dead period exceptions below)
November 11–14, 2024

May 11, 2025: Dead period
May 16–18, 2025: Evaluation period
May 21 – June 1, 2025: Dead period
June 15, 2025: Dead period

Glad they aren’t playing safe by holding back offers before judges final ruling. I was worried about that.

On the other side of coin, hope they aren’t holding back too much during this blackout period. Meaning we should be contacting agents and having middle men broker deal right now. Seems like many other schools and players figured it out and aren’t waiting with many players signed and delivered.

They need to lean forward and toe the grey line and not step back bc of a rule most high majors aren’t following and knowing the ncaa can’t enforce anything.

Will check out 50’state challenge too

The dead period is specific to coach staff member and a recruit in the same space (on campus, school visit, grocery store)

I just find this so funny all this going on when a top 10 high school recruit in the past is having a hard time dealing with giving players money. The things Holloway was given and offered, he did nothing in his classes… yes he could have gotten a lot more other places, but he got what he got when he was here… now he’s looking at these players saying he doesn’t want the player who is just looking at what they can get

It is unbelievable the number of excuses Seton Hall admin makes, first it's lack of money, then dead period, then we don't need to hire a GM. This act is getting old quick.
And I guarantee ( unlike Sha I will follow up on Guarantees) that the excuses will escalate before and moreso after next Season. A mess has already been made of the First 2 weeks of the Portal period -when a positive statement was needed

Why should he give a damn about men’s basketball? Just because he has money?

Has he donated to the school in any capacity? Maybe he thinks SHU played no part in his success and never had an affinity for the school

What did we have last year, 3 power 5 guys that didn’t do much and all went back in the portal after one year. How about Power 5 guys with area ties like Naas, Mgbako, and Bradshaw. C’mon Sha, bring em home! We’re being asked to renew tickets for a roster of 2 questionable freshman returnees and 1 mid major transfer. That they refer to a dead period is weak in my opinion. Get on it!

I can’t blame Kurtz for not wanting to throw his money on this bonfire, even if it’s chump change to him. Like any smart investor, he is probably waiting to see if this program could be something worth investing in (if he’s interested at all)

If we have $5M at our fingertips right now then let’s expect big signings to come. I hope.

We have what 4 players? Clark, Dual, Felton, Erheriene?

Plus the two commits that Dan mentioned in the original post. A lot of schools are in the same situation.

This makes 0 sense. Why would he wait until we're competitive to donate to athletics? Expecting a return?! Wouldn't his money go further now?

You’re not investing in the program, you’re investing in the people running the program. Maybe he has no faith in the people. Why invest in people who you think will spoil your money?

He could give enough to have anyone he wants running the program.

Based on what we’ve seen, he’s not jumping into that role. Maybe he doesn’t want to be that guy who donates for power. If he’s got a good person, he’s probably going to take them to Crowdstrike. Maybe if the administration got their heads out their ass, restructured the athletic department, did whatever is necessary including overpay to get extremely qualified people in important roles, maybe people would invest. People like Kurtz get better offers for donations with better structure in place daily. We’re our own worst enemy.
