Just make 4 or 5 super conferences for all sports of 20 and let everything else settle

Btw big east is not high major as it has no football but is niche for hoops and soccer

Conference realignment. Also known as money is the root of all evil. Conference realignment is the exclamation point on the fact that academics mean little to the NCAA. I feel sorry for the all the athletes who don't play football or basketball and are at their respective universities first and foremost for an education and will now spend most of their time traveling literally all over the country so schools and conferences can get richer.

There will be two super conferences. And then everyone else.

Probably an overrated point. I would bet that most of these specific team schedules won’t change much and they have been traveling for years

Also you can argue the NBE is guilty if this too

Disagree that the big east is not a high major conference for basketball. (And you may recollect that it is the current home of the national champions in basketball.)

I think it's dumb for us to define high major as being only football conferences. Seton Hall is a high major basketball program and it has done that under the constraints of being a small private college. Yeah, the "power" conferences in football have a huge amount of advantages, but we haven't been relegated yet. We should go down swinging, not willingly giving up our designation as a high major, which is really a basketball term anyway.

If that actually bothers them, then they don't have to join a "national" conference. Non-football playing schools can still afford to pay partial scholarships to Olympic athletes. I suspect the best athletes will continue to go to football dominated schools, because of the brand value and access to resources that it provides, but that's a choice right?

There will be two "super" conferences, and then one, or maybe two, "sidekick" conferences who will make dramatically less than the super conferences, but dramatically more than everyone else.

My great fear is that if an institution doesn't make that cut, people will stop caring about their games.

There is going to be a big drop off from the SEC/B10 eventually as they will dominate the media/streaming money. Musical chairs are still in process. Once that is done and the high target schools leave the other conferences (i.e. Clemson, Florida State from the ACC, etc.). you will be left with a bunch of schools in essentially regional conferences, second tier MSA's that will have much smaller media contracts.

I think he is saying that football has so much weight that the Big East is not a high major conference when you take into account all cumulative sports.

If you are only looking at basketball then the Big East is as competitive as any conference in the country.

Yeah, I get that, but "high major" is a basketball term. The big east is definitely a high major conference, and Seton Hall is definitely a high major school.

Who knows how long that will last, but for right now it's a fact.

Going to be interesting that is for sure, but as long as there is a tournament that all conferences can join I think there is a place for the big east and seton hall.

Just got to get a few decent recruits that stay, get a few transfers in the portal and stay old.
