Hmm - why is this not getting much coverage or outrage?

You beat me to the punch 112. I read this article yesterday and thought the exact same thing. I think we know the answer to that question. Underscores how pathetic the media is. I guess if you're a friend of Oprah, you won't be investigated. I wish one of the empty suit reporters would ask those that are investigating Bridgegate if this would get the same attention??? Their too busy driving around in their "Mobile Units" reporting on the snow amounts. That's your news quality today.

I do give Tom props and credit for calling Booker out as a phoney a long time ago.

Well it was the front page story of the NSL yesterday. I guess Corey was too busy tweeting about himself to notice those in his administration who were robbing the City blind.

And that was it....one story, no follow up, nothing on TV. The news media cares more about Diblasio running a red light...pathetic

Well that book I reviewed on this site a few years ago on the History of the City of Newark noted that every Mayor since the 1920's has been at least indicted if not convicted of corruption charges except for one (Leo Carlin in the 1950's). So it looks like Booker is doing his best to keep the streak alive - LOL.

That was a great book....you don't know how many people I've recommended or bought it for as a gift. I am really disappointed in Booker. I thought he was the real deal, but he's just as bad as the others. It's amazing how bad the corruption is in that city and it permeates every instituation. Having some dealings now with UMDNJ and it just makes you shake your head. I don't know if it's corruption or just plain stupidity or a combination of both. On a similar thought, does anyone have any idea what happened with the $100 million matching contribution that Zuckerberg made a few years ago? You don't hear about that anymore do you....hmmmm.

I think it was just a publicity op that both Booker & Christie jumped on. I've never seen anything about that money reaching the City schools.

Regarding that book on Newark the stuff about the Civil War era was also fascinationg. I had never known how sympathetic New Jersey was to the Confederacy (for economic reasons). Also the editor of Newark's leading newspaper at the time being tried for treason after the war ended (for editorials that New Jersey's youth should not fight in Mr Lincoln's War)

Yes, that was also an interesting piece from the book. Also never realized the significance Newark had in terms of manufacturing and commerce. All-in-all, a great read. It's sad though because considering the city is now only about a population of 250K, the economic drag it has on the state and level of corruption and crime is astounding. I hate to say it, but it looks like a hopeless situation because the inner workings and power brokers are so deeply embedded that there are too many greedy forces to permit real change.

Funny when talking about the rise and fall of Newark, if you look deep enough their are a few seton hall guys involved.
