Fun segment tonight on "60 Minutes," about a guy who for 50 years has created a team in his mind that is a perennial college basketball powerhouse. Guys graduate, new players come in. Nicknames for players, vivid stories of games and seasons and some national championships. A world-class mind, he doesn't even write this down. Anyone see it? Very entertaining piece.

60 Minutes Segment, Hoop Dreams

I consider myself an avid watcher of 60 Minutes. I actually shut this off about half way through the piece since I deemed it to be the most non-news/waste of TV space I think I've ever seen.

A guy with a savant like photographic memory chooses to put his talent to use by creating a fictional college basketball team for what I assume would be only his enjoyment? Pretty useless IMO.

I hear you. Human interest for some, isn't human interest for all. I thought it was a good off-speed pitch go along with the other serious pieces. To be honest, I was a little disappointed he didn't discuss recruiting or its cross-town rival.

I thought it was quite strange. Especially when the subject of the story acted out games in his apartment using a volley ball. Looked like he got a decent workout though. Additionally his fellow Steeler fans struck me as disingenuous.

Same. I love 60 minutes but that was pretty brutal, lol. I guess they had to tone it down after the SARIN attack report.

The strangest thing in the piece was when his "friends" asked Mr. Holland about a past player, and his response was, "unfortunately he got in a single car accident last week and he died". WTF!?
