The news just seems to accelerate so fast

President Trump pardons Joe Arpaio - Highly controversial move. Hot take - the President has discretion to pardon whomever he wants. I will move on.

President Trump signed a directive that precludes transgender people from joining the military. The President's order catches up with his tweet from a few weeks back. The move semi contradicts Trump campaign statements supporting LGBT rights . The Defense Secretary has latitude to determine what to do with those already in the armed forces. Hot take - The move addresses a really minor percentage of the military. The President should have left this issue for the military brass to decide

Gorka was fired/resigned - Hot take - I don't really have one. This is a sign of something. What that sign is, though, remains to be seen.

The President will reportedly end DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), which allows individuals who were brought to the U.S. by their parents before 2007 to apply for protection for deportation—and a legal work permit—if they arrived in the country before turning 16. Hot take - It is a little unclear at the moment if this directive was signed. If so, I disagree. Children grow up to be great Americans and I view this directive as targeting children, not strictly children of illegal immigrants.

The President wants Congress to end the Filibuster rule in the Senate per his comments during the Rally in Arizona on Tuesday. - Hot take - I disagree. I like the filibuster in the Senate. The House can be the governing body that is the raucous 51% governing body. If a bill cannot find 60 votes in the Senate, maybe that is a good thing.

Kasich/Hickenlooper 2020 is an interesting theory. I do believe the country is ripe for a viable 3rd party candidate in the next election. Is this the one I would vote for? Hot take - Don't be coy. I would want to know by the mid-term elections if they are running. Personally I would need time to wrap my head around this concept.

Mayweather/McGregor - Mayweather wins easily

Update

Kasich/Hickenlooper are dead, long live Kasich/Hickenlooper. The Ohio governor was pretty straightforward that a Unity ticket was not going to happen at least as far as he was concerned. I still believe a true third party candidate is going to run in 2020.

Mayweather won convincingly. He did not win easily

On Sunday, Secretary of State Tillerson and Fox News Chris Wallace had the following exchange

Tillerson: I don't believe anyone doubts the American people's values or the commitment of the American government or the government's agencies to advancing those values and defending those values.
Wallace: And the President's values?
Tillerson: The President speaks for himself, Chris.
Wallace: Are you separating yourself from that, sir?
Tillerson: I've spoken -- I've made my own comments as to our values as well in a speech I gave to the State Department.

Hot take - I don't agree with the concept "The President speaks for himself". The President speaks for the nation, which is why a President should choose his words wisely.

As far as I'm concerned Trump is an embarrassment to our nation. We have never had a President this unprepared to assume the office. The Dems on the other hand have shown no leadership & not presented a candidate worthy of the office to date. I would vote without hesitation for a ticket headed by John Kaisich. He seems to be the only one who thinks common sense is more important that party label.

I don't believe there were many who voted for a candidate they were proud of. Most people voted for the lesser evil. The problem with Trump is his presidency is about him vs the media. Neither side gives an inch. Even during this time of crisis in Houston, the media is taking shots at what he did say and what he didn't say.

While I wish Trump would stop talking and stop tweeting so much, I actually believe Trump has a heart. I think we're going to find out a lot about Trump, Congress, and other agencies who have a part in fixing Houston. If they can work together that will say a lot. If they are more interested in fighting along party lines and neglect the people, they all should be taken out of office.

Why should there be any question of whether Congress, the Prez or any other political agency have any issue with helping Texas and any area that has been hit by the hurricane? Only the most obtuse and horrible people would play politics during a disaster. Oh yeah, forgive me. It did happen once - during Sandy. When the Texas delegation including Ted Cruz, withheld Sandy relief for over 2 months and they still voted against it.

Ted Cruz, a piece of crap along with the other 23 representatives that voted against federal aid for New Jersey. Only time I have ever agreed with Christie was when he said: No heart or soul have they. So right was the Governor.
