We all have been clamoring for important football games in December and we finally have our wish. Both the Jets and Giants will play huge games this weekend. Actually the Jet game affects the Giant playoff chances to some degree with their vital home game hosting Detroit. The Jets probably have a more favorable situation despite the late push by New England and San Diego. How Mike White performs may decide the Jet’s fate. The Jet road game at Seattle could also have an effect on the Giant fortune.

Coming off that horrible performance against the Eagles the Giants have their most important game in many years at Washington. Contrary to popular belief this is not an elimination for either team on Sunday night. The tie game helps should either or both the Seahawks and Lions end up with 9 wins as long as the Giants win any 2 games left. They are not playing well and it won’t be easy However, it is still a huge game and a win would go a long way. The Jets beating the Lions and Giants winning would be a big step towards the playoffs. Any reasonable Giant fan would take that in a rebuilding year with a new coach,

All the teams that got out to unexpected good starts have come back to Earth. Both NY teams are in that group. 9-7-1 and a playoff berth is a great Year 1. Giants simply have to win at Washington and home against the Colts. Yep winnable games against comparable teams.

The Giants are limited and have to be run-centric and mistake-free, which they have not been able to get back to lately. Starting guys off the street in the secondary doesn’t help either so they’ve been exposed.

Crazy as it sounds the Giants & Wash. will still have a decent shot at the playoffs with an 8-8-1 record. Seattle & Detroit would win the tie breaker against Giants but there's a realistic shot they both finish 8-9.

I disagree. The Jets would need 10 wins to get a playoff berth. In the Giants case less wins would be needed. Probably 9-8 could do it, but I do not see that as a possibility.
