I'm not usually a big moral victory guy, but that game was on the campus of the #2 rpi team/ #1 kenpom team. Not many teams walk away with a win there. The score was what I was expecting, and the odds makers too, but I thought you guys played better than I expected (I was expecting a 20 pt lead to dwindle to 15 in garbage time, not a somewhat competitive game with a late pull away).
Anyway, Nova shot poorly and continued to rely too much on the three. They really got away from all that positive from the creighton game. Lazy offense, chucking threes that aren't the best looks (especially early) instead of putting some effort into working the offense a bit. And seton hall is pretty athletic, which makes those shots more tightly contested, which is why they don't go in as frequently.
I don't know if nova's rebounding is improving or if seton hall is a terrible rebounding team. That was the biggest negative I took away from that game for the pirates.
The biggest positive was the chemistry seemed to be there. There was no sulking or getting down, they seemed to like playing with each other. This is the type of game that you just get better by playing (same with the games nova lost to oklahoma and Uva, they don't hurt you and hopefully the team improves).
If this game were on a neutral court, if the shots weren't falling for nova, and shu pulled within a couple baskets in the second half, who knows?
I'm still optimistic about you guys dancing. I think you win at least one home game, maybe 2 or even 3, against the conference's big four. Dance this year, who knows, maybe win a couple games. But next year and I think 2018 could be real special. I can't see any of your guys going after this year. Whitehead is not a nba player yet. Delgado might be the least improved player in the conference (which isn't that bad, bc he was pretty good last yr, but he may have peaked at what he is, and that's not a nba player). I think desi has a chance at the league, but not after this year. I actually think they all make it to sr year.
