Two impact points for this years team :

1. Veer even as a freshman will become a cornerstone player. He is better than most people think.

2. Year over year Carrington will show the biggest leap between freshman and sophomore seasons.

3. Ish is among the nicest players we have ever had. Just a really fine young man.

4. You have the players - the issue now is execution - I really want this to be the year of no injuries more than anything else. Give me one season where we see the entire team for the entire season able to play up to its potential.

5. Upset of the year - We win it in Charleston. That is going to be a crazy tournament this year.

Let the games begin -

unless Virginia doesn't have the horses anymore to operate their defense the way they have the past few years (and I believe they do based on their preseason ranking), you're completely out of your mind if you think we're beating them. Our halfcourt offense is one of the most embarrassing things in college bball, and you think it's going to fair well against the nation's best defensive team? A team that held multiple opponents below 50 last season? Or, do you somehow think we will be running alot against them? Unless Bennett's kids don't buy in the way they have, they are going to laugh us out of the gym.

OK, I get it. We are not allowed to dream of upset wins. That sucks. Wish that was not a rule of fandom.

I completely disagree with you. I am not the least bit intimidated by Virginia. We are going to win that game The hell with the cavaliers.

We do have a chance but we have to run, run, run. They have a hard time switching their strategy from a very methodically paced game. So I'm with you, SHU is taking Charleston!

+1 to both of these. I think Anderson is going to be an impact player as well, which will really help the frontcourt. Could have a nice group of rebounders if Desi-Anderson-Delgado ends up being the starting frontcourt with Whitehead and Carrington the starting guards.

Singh maybe becomes one of those nice options off the bench. I think Nzei could be an impact bench player with instant energy and tenacity.

Pirates have a pretty good history in these early season tourneys. Should have beat Duke one year under Louis Orr. Or was I dreaming?

Nope, not dreaming. Remember it well. It was Louis Orr's first season (2001) and it was at the Maui Invitational. Lost by one point and couldn't get the ball inbounded and into a set with about 10 seconds left. Played great; think were up by 10 at one point.

Charles Manga was a beast!
