With our latest de-commit we have a few open scholarships.

Are we anticipating a preseason commit, hoping for a mid season pickup or is this it?

Seems set to me with the 11 we have and I guess depth chart like this?

PG: Richmond/Harris
SG: Dawes/Sanders
WF: Addae-Wusu/Coleman
PF: Davis/Tubek/NgaNnga
C : Everett-Hutchins/Bediako

Idk what could be coming for the 12th and 13th spots. Unless it’s a proven backup PG likely won’t be a regular rotation piece.

The bigger problem and question is how you get so many players who never played together to jell and be a team. Obviously basketball is a team sport that relies on players who know how each other plays, what each player skill set is etc.. Sometimes it takes 2 to 3 years to build team chemistry and a winning attitude.

How this will all play out with this group remains to be seen but Sha has his work cut out for him to build a cohesive, competitive team.

Almost every team will be dealing with this. Expect more sloppiness, turnovers, selfishness, drama…and less tolerant fans.

Status quo for this new era of college basketball. Perhaps the continuity stat is now the key indicator for teams, at least early on. 🤷‍♂️

Posted the same question on the trove with no responses so it looks like the roster may very well be set

Woof

No. Not at all. Remember Tommy Mayan starting at point guard with Aaron Crosby and being backed up by Freddie Wilson? That team did have Fuquan and Gene Teague but that’s it. And that team was approx 10 years ago.

But I get your point, this is not a very good team.
Aaron Cosby would start on this team

It’s not the worst team in 20 years, but our program-best streak of 8 consecutive seasons without a losing BE record is in jeopardy, that’s for sure.

With such low expectations from all of you experts the team can exceed expectations by winning a couple of BE games. That is great news! I think if they have a .500 BE record a lot of you will have heart attacks!

One of the attributes that will be important for programs to have success going forward will be stability and figuring out how to achieve that will be a major challenge for not only Seton Hall but a lot of other programs as well.

No. Maybe your sentence is either too simplistic or too obvious.
In the late 80’s PJ figured it out that his facilities and monetary resources couldn’t compete. So he gamed the recruiting competition by finding ways
to beat the system. I remember him stating coyly that the biggest issue was not getting caught. This mindset brought him Andrew Gaze and other hired guns.
Now insane payouts are encouraged, and being a student in name only is routine.
Sadly it seems to me that loopholes are now nonexistent, and there’s little incentive for a good player to choose on the basis of a particular college experience.

No way the roster is that bad imho. Frankly, I think we're going to be better than most are projecting....and I'm far from a Pollyanna. I just think Sha will get this group to collectively rise above their individual talents.

It seems like you consider yourself an expert. Will they NCAA tournament good?

Hopeful to see this as well and what positive impact it may make. In many ways Sha had a typical Year 1 and it seemed not everyone was always on the same page, practices were an issue, and so forth. We heard about it all year, on and on.

I think Dawes is better than Cosby. Plus Dawes never quit his team.
I won’t say he quit the team but Dawes almost single handily ended our season twice last year. First in the BET and then in the NIT game. Absolutely awful basketball with plays that a competent mid level high school player would execute better. Left a terrible taste in my mouth to end the season that way. Having him as our starting 2 guard going into this season is not a good thing.

Can’t disagree there but did he not help win any games?

He’s a manic player. Can be really good or really bad and that seems to correlate directly to level of competition, at least the stats bear out that way in Year 1 at Seton Hall. The sloppiness is his killer and for a guy who played so much and had a high usage rate it was brutal.

Let’s see if he can improve now with a full year under Holloway. Sha has been part of a lot of improvement in guard play.

Well stated 👍 Let’s hope Sha works some magic with him. We can always be hopeful but after what we’ve seen so far having him as our starting 2 this year puts us in a tough spot.

Manic is the perfect word to describe his style of play. Does some spectacular things but often seems out of control.

On paper, this team is not terrible like some say, PG # 1 is legit, SG Dawes has proven his worth via his career in the ACC, he CAN ball minus his brain farts, # 3 Wusu proved he can play in the BEast and will only get better # 4 Davis is my highest on potential, I think he's a diamond in the rough player #5 is a committee type who will just be asked to defend and board with some buckets..... we have seen worse teams exceed expectations in our past and other teams pasts
