Here we go.
My New Heights contact obviously knows him well and has seen him play a ton. He tells me the following
Great handle. Deadly in the open court. Sometimes goes for the home run when the single will suffice but that will come with experience.
Needs to get bigger and stronger. Also needs work on his jumper.
No doubt about it top 50-75 player. Maybe better with experience.
Not Whitehead good but a more pure point.
Needs to see the love. Not getting it from his favorite school Syracuse. If he was they would be the prohibit favorite.
Only involved with Minn because of Kimani Young, who is a former coach and program director of New Heights. My contact doesn't think he'll go to play for the Gophers.
Sha and SHU are showing Washington the most love telling him the ball is his the first day he steps on the court. That is scoring major points with the guard.
As with most young players he is looking to pad his resume with as many high quality offers as possible. It's a 'thing' in NY. Sort of a status symbol in the streets and to date Washington isn't getting the attention he craves.
Washington has a cult following in the city unlike any current HS player. Even bigger than what Whitehead had back in his playing days.
Washington is very quiet about his recruitment. Even his coaches are unsure of where he's at in the process.
My contact is going to reach out to Washington and try to secure an interview with him. Hopefully that bears fruit. If it doesn't then he'll get me an interview with the New Heights head coach who he mentored as a young man.
