Isaiah Whitehead

When I saw it I assumed it was in humor. But I hesitated yesterday to post it as I figured some wouldn't see it that way. But when I got verification this morning that he is being taken care of as he should be, then I had no problem starting this thread.

There's not many players, if any, that have been more important to SHU in this century.

The second half of the season I would argue that he was the best player in the country. Broke my heart the way that season ended but it was only one game. And since he left has there been a former player more supportive of the Pirates?

Whitehead was brought up by his mom as well as any child could be in a tough environment. Kudos to both of them.

If he stayed, could have been one of the best players in the country his junior year and turned himself into a first round pick. Sadly, like most, he chose instant gratification and didn't turn out to be anywhere close to what he could have been.

Anything is possible but I think this is a false narrative. In todays NBA, your draft stock decreases with age - it’s primarily based on physical metrics and potential. Look at historical drafts and very few upperclassmen are taken in the first round.

Also, irrespective of all of that he *DID* get first round money/contract. So he made the right move. He extended his professional career by a year which has enormous financial impact.

Stay get your degree and have a celebrated career at SHU.Have a cup of coffee in the NBA.Have a long.productive career internationally.Come back and get into coaching.

That’s not fair. It’s been known that he wanted to continue at SHU but his family needed money. He got first round money and the chance to literally play in his home town. All of that is really hard to pass up.

How do you know

Okay Dan. Good job. In twenty years when you and your fellow fans are gone we’ll have nothing because you refuse to adapt.. good job. are you an employee?
What precisely have you done? It is ludicrous how posters are so quick to criticize. Start your own board.

Somebody needs to go to a safe space somewhere. Isn’t that what this generation on campuses needs?

Plus, people ignore the fact that his draft class was a weak one while the next class was very deep. He made the right choice as much as it stunk for a Seton Hall fan.

100 percent this. To me his legacy at SHU is more than secure. To me, he is responsible as anyone else for the success that this program (and the success of the people associated with it) have had since 2015. I would say he is arguably the most important player the program has had since 2000.

His commitment at the time was enormous, and exactly what this program needed. On the court he did what he was supposed to do: get SHU back to the dance (for the first time in 10 years) and hang a banner up in the rafters. More than anything he changed the perception of the program from one that couldn't get out of its own way, to a place where players want to go to.

You have to ask yourself what would have happened if he didn't choose to go here. Would Willard have survived? Would guys like Cale, Powell, Rhoden, etc. have come here? Would we have made the tournament five times? Would we have a conference title and a BET title? Does Sha get the St. Peter's job and go on that run? I say probably not.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder, a handful of gems in both drafts looking back now but also many misses, injury derailments and non developers...plus no one can put the value of what his 3rd year of being a lead/combo guard towards the equity of his actualized draft status though I would be personally shocked if it wasn't higher than early 40s

He couldn’t buy a ticket or two for charity?
That's why my first instinct was he was joking. IW does so much charity work that the price of a couple of tickets would be meaningless to him.

My guess if he was serious is that he wants to sit in a prime seat.

I already told Sha last year that you won't be able to afford him. LOL

As an update, Zags is reporting that Isaiah is going back to Israel to finish the season with his team when play resumes later this month. Quote from Isaiah:

“I wanted to go back to Israel because it’s just, when I start something I love to finish it,” the Coney Island, N.Y. native told NJ Advance Media on Thursday. “I feel like I was letting those guys down there that really believed in me and signed me in the first place. I just wanted to finish the job that I started.

Prayers for safe travels and a safe return home.
