I think there is a real opportunity for the chemistry to be better in the backcourt next season. The question is; can both of these guys play 36+ minutes per game next year? We'll need them to given the lack of depth. God forbid either one gets injured.

They'll both have to show me. While there were flashes, neither of these guys improved as the season progressed. In fact they were outplayed by the competition in the home stretch.
Time for them to put their high school press clippings away and start playing college team basketball the way Delgado does.

I for one think the Carrington/ Whitehead backcourt will do quite well. Both are extremely talented. The problem will not be our starting backcourt but rather no reserves that can be counted on.

Im excited to see it, but that backcourt is a well oiled turnover machine. Only one year in though.

Agree about depth. Neither is Bryce Cotton.

The BE is second only to the ACC in the average HS recruiting ranking of the conferences teams and players. In other words the talent in the BE at every position is very good, and they will be tested every night. I am so happy to have them in the backcourt, but man it would be nice to get another guard. I'd take carter in a heartbeat coming off the bench.

Tom- Check out the article on Dalton Soffer on ShuHoops.com . Good insight on the incoming recruit.

I'm with you Tom. I'm amazed at how many posters are so down on IW and KC. Yes we need another guard with only Soffe as backupr, but the two starters will be great next year. The way posters keep showing their assist to TO ratio from last year and believe that they aren't PG because of their freshman stats. I think these two are going to be all BE next year, both of them along with Angel.

Don't think most fans are down on players as much as they are down with the coach coaching the players

Not doubting IW and Khadeen at all. We have no depth in the backcourt and we've seen this before and recently and its hard to go through a season without 3 or 4 guards you can count on. I hope IW and Khadeen do well but how does a team with a HC and top assistant that were both PGs continue to have a hard time recruiting and keeping guards? One guy gets hurt and we are in big trouble unless they find a diamond in the rough.

We eat our young and we pick sides and stay there. IW and KC are the best young guards we have had in ages.

I really liked what I saw from Khadeen. But Isaiah, in spite of great talent, showed awful basketball IQ. He needs to lock himself into his room this summer and watch a San Antonio Spurs re-run marathon to grow his concept of the beauty of ball movement and intelligent shot selection.

Whitehead, Desi, Carrington, and Delgado is a solid nucleus. Singh will also be a contributor. The problem is there is no true point guard, no depth at the guard position, losing Gibbs, a ton of question marks in the front court, our best lineup is small and that is not going to work in the league, and a coach well......I just don't see how we are going to be much better in the league this year.

Here we go with the basketball IQ nonsense again. 1) IW was a freshman 2) He missed half the year with an injury.

I didn't see a lack of basketball IQ. I actually thought Whitehead's instincts were pretty good. His problem IMO was volume. Whitehead saw WAY too much of the ball for a young and inefficient player. Whereas Gibbs (a junior) had figured out ways to create efficient points for himself, Whitehead (a freshman) had not. The result was a lot of forced action, bad shots, turnovers, etc. Once Whitehead starts figuring out what works and what doesn't, he can be a really good PG.

Repeatedly driving into triple teams is bad basketball IQ. Repeatedly attempting circus shots is bad basketball IQ. Hogging the ball is bad basketball IQ. McD All-Americans are held to higher standards due to all the hype.

Whitehead forced things way too much at times last year. He thought he was still in HS/AAU where there he could drive in on double teams and end up with a good result. Has to make the adjustment for the competition level being higher and play smarter.

We'll find out how much he learned.
