Just got recent info (yesterday) regarding IW's draft status.

NBA scouts reached out to some BB people locally here (not from SHU) asking about Whitehead on and off the court. They got great feedback regarding his maturity, work ethic and talent.

They questioned the incident with Gibbs during a timeout and the issues of locker room chemistry during his freshmen year but were satisfied by those they spoke to that Whitehead was in no way responsible for any problems while getting glowing reviews about his physical talent and compatibility with his teammates and the coaching staff.

Now the views of the scout....

This is eerily similar to what I was told about a week ago from another great source.

The issue with Whitehead is position. He is not seen as a point guard in the NBA right now meaning where he plays is questionable at the next level.

Whitehead must learn to play under control, understand how to run an offense and improve his BB IQ.

There are a few teams looking at him right now. But they are looking with the proviso that he most probably would have to be stashed in the D League for a year. Even in the case of his being a late first round draft choice.

Now, of course this could all change if he has a great combine but that's unlikely as he would have to play out of his mind. Not impossible, but as noted unlikely.

The consensus is that Whitehead should return to college for at least one more year. He made tremendous strides during Feb, March and April but still has a long way to go.

SHU felt like he was 90% gone in April. Now they're not so sure.
