It's very disappointing to read that Jayla Jones-Pack is heading to Central Florida.

I really don't get it. UCF was 9-21, 5-13 last season. But that's the recruiting game. Strange things happen.

I thought she would have thrived with Tony Bozzella and the Pirates. She said UNC was her "dream school." The 6-4 Long Island native talked about how important it would be for her family to watch her play.

Yet she chose UCF. It does not make sense.

Let's hope they get Blessing Ejiofor from Paterson, who is a monster and a higher ranked player.

So UCF was 9-21 last season, and 10-20 in 2013-14.

They have not had a winning record since 2010-2011.

They must have done a heck of a sales job.

is $ involved with women's bball recruits like it is men's? Do these kids and their handlers get paid off like all our "spotlight" men's recruits do? That could be a factor if so. If not, maybe she wanted a part. major at UCF, or wanted to be in Orlando or Florida, or maybe she just wanted a big state school.

I'm sure the young woman has her reasons. I wish her success.

It's just that on the face of it- and given her previous statements- it doesn't make sense.

Maybe it is the weather, and maybe what kids often say is off the top of their head, and not to be taken as more than that.

Reason for her change of heart is on the Trove.

I wish her the best. A very talented player.

I was speaking with a D1 women's coach and she told me that the recruiting perks (pay to play) found in the men's recruiting game don't exist in the women's game. Who knows if that's accurate though.

This was in no way an issue with the recruiting process.

Maybe she didn't like the pace of the softball field construction or the shade of the infield turf.

Honestly, by your logic, why should anyone have come to Seton Hall two years ago when the record the years before were lousy?

dobler, did you actually read my post... or were you looking for a reason to post a jab about the undeniably slow progress of the new softball field?

About two weeks ago, the recruit was offered by her "dream school," which is UNC.

She also said she wanted to play in front of family and friends. She was offered by SHU.

Yet she chose UCF.

So if you bothered to get the facts before commenting, you'd also be surprised.

Nevertheless, as I commented, no one should be surprised about anything when it comes to recruiting.

Incidentally, I never said I didn't like the color. I like it. It's different.

It's Mr. Dobler to you!

I'd better add that I'm just kidding, because you do seem to be one of the more sensitive posters.

Mr. Dobler, it didn't come across as a joke, but I will certainly take you at your word.

As a big fan of the team, I was disappointed and surprised.

One correction: I meant to say that Jones-Pack had UNC on her list and that she said it was her "dream school." They were a finalist. I did not mean to write that they offered two weeks ago. I don't know when they offered.

Many of you are thinking wayyyyyy to much into this. The girl chose a school in Florida that meant she had no real thoughts of high b ball.

John is absolutely correct. She chose the college experience over playing high D1 ball.
