Desi Rodriguez is having an excellent practice on both ends. Seems more comfortable shooting from range.

what is the story with Herb Pope? Noticed he was hanging around during the scrimmage pre and post. Is he looking to get ready for playing for someone/somewhere this upcoming season?

Yes. He will be on campus for a while until his immediate pro future becomes clearer.

Herb has been on campus often in the last week or so. Also was in attendance for the Beefsteak and the Blue White Scrimmage.

Lean and mean. Looks good.

Herb has really made a 180 turn in his life. He has really gotten after it on the court trying to lose weight which he has. He has also given up drinking which I could not be more proud of him.

He has been training local kids as he now lives in Newark, he also is working at the local Boys & Girls club.

Nice job by Jerry. He has some good quotes from the guys. I also enjoyed the "half court offense is a work in progress" quote. Let the complaining begin!

In spite of all the nonsense that surrounded Pope, I hope he has turned his life around. I much prefer a success story to a tragedy and if nothing else, Pope has had a lot of things to overcome.

I am very happy to hear that. I am happier with that news than I was after a 20/10 game. Way to go Herb!

Just curious but would Herb be allowed under NCAA rules to work as an unpaid volunteer for the team. He would be an additional asset to work with our big men especially the freshman and sophomores.

Slippery slope on that one. It sounds like he's really taking some positive steps and focusing on his future, but don't you think there would be some parents of a player that would be hesitant about that given his past? Maybe in due time, but right now probably too soon.

Herb struck me as more of an instinctive and skilled rebounder than a guy who learned or was self-taught. Around the glass rebounds would disappear and when that happened, you knew he had it. Best rebounder at the Hall in some. Until I saw Angel Delgado. Both could dominate the glass, but it seems to me Angel might be a little better rebounder, and Herb was darn good. Imagine two guys like that in your frontcourt.

I can appreciate the slippery slope issue but potentially both Herb and the players could benefit from that happening and , given Herb's history who is in a better position then Herb to talk about his past mistakes and how to avoid them.

I agree that he would be great for that role. I just think it might be too soon...let him get some experience with these kids in the community and come back here in 2 or 3 years.

Haha, glad to see a sensible decision was made versus years past.
First thing I thought of was the SG snub last year. That whole decision was so bizarre, makes you think there was more going on behind the scenes even at that stage of the season, not that KW has been known for making rational decisions.

Also like the idea of IW and Gordon squaring off. Can only help both at those respective ends of the floor.

BTW, anyone see IW's tweet last night of his move on AD? Not much to go by considering the situation, but he looks like he's a step quicker than he was last year, at least on that one play.

Hi Dan - Why was my post edited without the system acknowledging it had been edited?

pretty sure that was on Carter, not Delgado.

That was the last play of the scrimmage. Everyone was having fun. Little D played and the result was more like a mixed tape highlight video.

Whitehead also hit a 35-38 foot jumper shortly before the play linked on his twitter page.

Hi Dan - In the post i mentioned, I had originally included a side comment to jcalz about 360 vs 180 degrees. My words are gone; but I didn't remove them. Usually if there is an edit after the posting, the system will acknowledge the post was edited, but that isn't the case here. It isn't a big deal, but since I happened to notice it, I thought I would ask. Thanks for checking.

Oh, OK.

Before I read your post I too noticed John's error so I corrected it by deleting the 360 and changing it to 180. I can do that as monitor and not show the edit if I choose. That way if someone posts an error I can change it without bringing attention to the mistake.

After that I then read your post which would not have made any sense following my correction of John's post so I just deleted that sentence so as to not cause confusion.
