This isn’t all that different of a setup than when Kansas made us look like a JV team last year under ShaI'll never forget how TCU physically dominated us a couple of years ago in the Tournament. I have a feeling this might be one of those type of games but I'm confident Sha won't let that happen on his watch.
Dont agree. We whine too much but this one deserves some whine.Boy does this program love to whine and complain about scheduling. Suck it up. You want to be a big time program? Act like one. Sometimes, I question if Seton Hall actually does want to be a big time program.
These games should be seen as great opportunities. Opportunities for the team to pick up huge wins, visit new places, and play teams we might not ordinarily play. Instead, our coaches (multiple eras) and the reporters who carry their water love to make it seem like the world is against Seton Hall. Why the hell wouldn't you want to play Kansas, Texas, and Baylor?
Man, his quotes here are from a completely different person. It sounds as if he’s given up trying already, that Seton Hall is a low upside program and there’s nothing he can doBoy does this program love to whine and complain about scheduling. Suck it up. The problem is that in comparison to your fellow Big East teams, you’re the one getting the short end. That’s not whining.Boy does this program love to whine and complain about scheduling. Watching the Tulane SMU game, all the Tulane fans said the team seemed distracted based on the coaching situation. I am of the mind that you should want these opportunities. By the same token, I used to defend Steve Pikiell for scheduling a soft non-conference schedule when he was rebuilding the RU program and knew it was a struggle to compete. Why go crazy scheduling games that you can't win?Boy does this program love to whine and complain about scheduling. Suck it up. You want to be a big time program? Act like one. How about Cooley at the end of last season?Watching the Tulane SMU game, all the Tulane fans said the team seemed distracted based on the coaching situation. It totally reminded me of our game against TCU.
Amazing you coach all season long, develop guys over the years, and then in the biggest game of season, you essentially mail it in. While i was a Willard guy and appreciated everything he did for our program, that will never sit well with me.
You wouldn‘t want to play one of them at home? They're not getting the short end. They're getting marquee matchups. Do you think Villanova would rather be playing at Kansas State or at Baylor tomorrow? Same for Providence playing at Oklahoma. Easy answer. Most serious programs would want to play the best. They're probably wondering why Seton Hall gets to play marquee Big 12 teams year after year. Yet we don't embrace it. SMH.

If they answer honestly, they will tell you they want to play the game they can win. Maybe Villanova takes at Baylor because they have national championship aspirations and a loss is less likely to hurt them. It's about risk/reward. I'm pretty sure PC would rather go to OU and win by three than go to Baylor, play well and lose by three. They're not getting the short end. They're getting marquee matchups. Seton Hall played Texas at home and was supposed to play Baylor at home three years ago. When you get matched up with teams like this, you play them anywhere. Seton Hall will likely get a home game next season. It's not a big deal that two in a row are on the road.
Great post. Your final paragraph is exactly on point. Some schools like RU never play tough road games even when they have a team that can compete. If they answer honestly, they will tell you they want to play the game they can win. I think you have to be honest in evaluating where you are as a program. If this is a game that you realistically have no chance of winning, you don't want to play it. You'd rather be matched with a similar opponent. Again, why waste these opportunities if you have almost no chance.
When the program was in a better place, we didn't shy away from these games. FWIW for all of Willard's complaints about the schedule, he tended to embrace these games. That's why we won at Iowa, Louisville, Maryland and Michigan in a five-year span.
Yeah, maybe that guy Willard could coach! LOL!AND WE BEAT TEXAS! lol everyone complaining and no one mentioning we beat Texas!
This is so spot on. I read the Sha quotes and am embarrassed by his complaining before the game has even started. Jerry should have done him a favor and buried that interview. Why even show up to play tonight? “I can’t fail” were Sha’s words when he took this job. Well he already failed his team before the opening tip. Hopefully they rally and compete tonight despite his words. It rarely worked out well for Willard.Boy does this program love to whine and complain about scheduling. Suck it up. I saw that. He was set up and he took the bait. Now what are the players supposed to think? They’re going to take after their coach. Rather than “shock the world,” the tone has become “whatever.”Jerry put some color in the twitter comments for those that are interested. Sha didn't rant or pre-empetivley complain, Jerry and Zags outline what they saw as a grievance with facts around it and than Sha said what he said.
Scary thought but completely plausible. He coaches like a guy who learned everything he knows from Willard. Offense, substitution patterns, defense. He’s a lot less polished and a hell of a lot more intense. Hopefully once he turns this roster over with a solid recruiting class, we will see the Elite 8 version of Sha. Right now, it is fair to have doubts. This isn’t St. Peter’s and the learning curve is steep.I have been very discouraged with most everything about Sha in his nearly two years as head coach. I thought we were getting the better of the deal when Willard left and he was hired, but I can't shake the feeling that I might be wrong.
Some of you guys are incredible. If Sha doesn’t make it, it’s Willard’s fault! Sha is going to make it but it’s going to take time.Scary thought but completely plausible. No, it would be Sha’s fault. Nowhere did I say it would be Willard’s fault. Some of you guys are incredible. If Sha doesn’t make it, it’s Willard’s fault! Sha is going to make it but it’s going to take time.
The “offense” and the robotic substitution patterns resemble that of his teacher. Both have slightly improved from last year but that may be more a product of the roster construction. Unfortunately, the defense has taken a hit but it’s still early.SHU wasn't Wagner
Villanova wasn't Hofstra
Northeastern wasn't UConn
...and on and on and on. I don't see so much about his coaching that resembles Willard, though he did spend a lot of time learning the craft under Kevin
