taking a break from the controversies surrounding (and dividing) us to remember a rock and roll icon who passed away a few days ago......

If not my favorite song... his "She came in Through the Bathroom Window"... heads up my list of all time favorite song titles.

RIP Joe... you were great

His version of "Get By With a Little Help From My Friends" was a classic. Loved "Cry Me a River" too. One of my first 8-tracks was a bootleg Woodstock double-tape....that's what turned me on to Cocker.

Joe Cocker was a favorite of mine also with that rough bluesy voice. A few years ago we took a unplanned ride up to the 60's Museum in Beth-el New York (site of the Woodstock festival) . They have an amphitheater like PNC but smaller. Anyway Joe Cocker performed there the day before we drove up. Had I known we would have taken the trip a day earlier. I always wanted to see him in concert unfortunately now we can't.

Would love to read a tell all about the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour! RIP

Yea sad day losing Joe. What a unique unmistakable voice and talent. It was his signature. RIP

How wonderful that someone would chime in on music (which to me is a far more interesting topic than people's political opinions).

My own music heroes seem to be dropping like flies in recent weeks, as we've also lost sidemen Bobby Keys and Ian McLagen, Big Star producer John Fry, and, just yesterday, the incredible Nashville session guitarist Chip Young. Singers get most of the glory, but so many wonderful recordings and performances wouldn't have happened without the folks I just mentioned.

RIP Joe Cocker, and all the other brilliant musicians who lost their lives in 2014.
