I'll say one thing his record is very consistent. Not good, just consistent. At Goldman Sachs he was known for taking high risks. For a while they went well but eventually his partners bought him out to remove him as CEO. As Governor the state's economy was in shambles & he had no answers & now with his new company they are forced to file for bankruptcy.

Now anyone can make bad investment decisions but conmingling of funds and over 700 million dollars just disappearing into thin air is serious shit. I would think that his investors look at him much the way Bernie Madoff's did whether justly or unjustly.

Corzine seems to get a rush in playing with fire. Sometimes you get burned.

Just one other thing about Jon Corzine & his high risk gambling. According to the NSL Corzine used NJ public employee pension funds to purchase securities with Lehman Brother just before they went belly up. The pension fund lost 118 million. Now if he wants to gamble on risky ventures like this with his own money thats fine, but to risk the employee pensions on this type of gamble is just not excusable.

Your thoughts ?

TK

Tom, agree with you on that as well. I think it's despicable as to what Corzine did with the pension, but we see this time and time again, where these politicians or those in power get so disconnected from reality, that they justify in their mind that they are either not accountable or above the law. I actually think this is the behavior that is stimulating the Tea Party, OWS, and other movements. Why is Herman Cain gaining support?

Greed and arrogence have no party affiliation. Corzine was wrong and should get what's coming to him.

Agree. His track record is consistent. Asked to leave Goldman as a Director - not unheard of but it does not happen much (due to his high risk appetite - if you know anything about Goldman they do not like mistakes or uncalculated risks). If you look at his personal life, he was very arrogant and took lots of risks too. Cost him his relationship with his kids for a long time - still estranged.

He also had the incident with sleeping with the head of the union too while he was negotiating the state contract. I guess he did not pay attention much in that business ethics class in college because he really did not have any ethics at all. He also bought his way to the governorship with his donations to many churches and political campaigns. What is sad is so many Dems bought his charade and elected him to be Governor when he was anything but a man for the people. But I guess that wasn't the first time and won't be the last. Just another NJ success story???

You know the question about picking four famous people to have dinner with? I would love to have Corzine, Anthony Wiener, John Edwards and Eliott Spitzer for dinner and ask them all "What the F were you thinking?" It's like "I'm above the law" mentality. I'm not even sure any of them would admit they did anything wrong.

As a disclaimer, although all four are Dems, I'm sure there are four Republicans you can do the same thing.

It's not a political party issue, it's one of mismanagement and inappropriate actions. Of course you could add Governor Stafford of South Carolina who had billed himself as a "family values' candidate. But I'm less concerned about an office holders sexual indiscretions than I am about an office holder's lack of ethics when it comes to handling the finances under his control. Corzine's actions in the very least would be considered mismanagement & at worst would involve criminality while in control of MF Global.

As far as New Jersey is concerned the Dem leaders dug their own holes by letting Corzine buy their support 6 years ago. Had then acting Governor Cody been the Dem candidate they in all likelihood would still control the statehouse.

Cody would have made an excellent governor. However I feel our present governor Christie is heading our state in a positive direction and doing an outstanding job.I did not vote for Christie , even though I did not like Corzine, but would vote for Christie now.
As far as Corzine is concerned, he is an equal opportunity screw up.Goldman Sachs, New Jersey , now MF Global. Strike 3.

By the way Hall 85. I think that dinner party should be held at Blagoivic's home. All birds of a feather.

Those that got their's, care little for those who come next. It's usually referred to as "sure glad that I got mine, to hell with everyone else.":(

What are you talking about???

You're not defending how Corzine squandered the employee pension fund are you?

The words quoted are from the song "Gd bless the Child" I believe. But how they apply I don't know. Any explanation Muggsy?

Tom You're getting freaky and you're scaring me, lol. I thought I was being so circumspect.

Section 112 I ask that you repect that I have a screen name for a reason. You've taken shots at me in the past; that's acceptable. I do ask though, that you omit the personal pronoun. You seem to know something about me that I don't know about you.

Sorry Muggsy - I've seen a few other posts in the past referring to you so that is how I knew. I edited the words so as not to offend. I will refrain and know nothing about you except politically we have different views, you love the NJ teachers union and I do not and that we both love SHU.

And as far as taking shots I have definitely disagreed with you but nothing more. I would be surprised if I ever offended you as that is not my style or intent. I believe there are plenty of other posters way higher on offensive quotient than I am. If I ever did offend I apologize.

You're probably right, it is just political, and that I have no problem with, but there are several posters on this board that use my gender when they respond to me, and that I have a problem with. So thanks for responding and respecting my request.

And to think the NJ voters entrusted him with our finances also (for four years anyway). I know he always had the support of the public employee unions, but I wonder what they now think of his reckless investments that cost their pension fund 113 million in losses.

TK

The same people will still vote blindly democratic whether the next candidate is terrific or not.

This is not an ad for Repubs either whose politicians are equally as guilty.
