Seton Hall fans attending Saturday’s game against Kentucky at Madison Square Garden will have plenty of options at the concession stands, from burgers and chicken tenders to more expensive fare such as sushi and shrimp rolls.

Seton Hall hopes that on the court, Cheese is back on the menu. That’s where I begin my five takeaways:

1--The Hall needs Myles Powell in a big way. Powell struggled to a 6-for-19 shooting performance in the loss to Louisville last week, and the Pirates will need a much better day to have any chance against the ninth-ranked Wildcats. So how has Powell, a junior, done at MSG in his career? Glad you asked.

Here are his field goals made and attempted, threes made and attempted, and points for his seven college games at The Garden:

South Carolina 4-12, 1-6 11

St. John’s 3-7, 3-5 13

Marquette 4-10, 3-6 17

Villanova 4-10, 3-6 11

Texas Tech 7-13, 4-8 19

St. John’s 5-17, 1-11 18

Butler 3-9, 3-7 9

Powell has shot 38.4 percent overall and 36.7 percent from long distance at MSG, and averaged 14 points.

2--Thompson needed ASAP. Seton Hall could use the presence and athleticism of 6-10 Taurean Thompson very much against the Wildcats. He sat out the second half of the loss to Louisville because of coach Kevin Willard’s decision, and didn’t suit up for the New Hampshire game. Willard said afterward Thompson had sprained his ankle the day before in practice, and that he was confident he would play versus Kentucky. Also in that game, freshman point guard Anthony Nelson played eight second-half minutes and not at all in the first half because he had attended a funeral earlier in the day.

Further, shot-blocking specialist Romaro Gill has a coach's decision DNP Tuesday. Willard indicated he didn’t match up well with UNH’s personnel.

3--Willard’s milestone. Willard is 200-165 for his career after the win over the Wildcats, and 155-116 in his ninth season at Seton Hall. The players presented him with a shirt with the number 200 after the game, and Willard said it meant a lot to him, especially because it was Powell who gave it to him. “I love that little man,” Willard said of the 6-2 guard in the post game media room.

4--Honoring his SHU predecessors. Willard also commented on how his 155th victory with the Pirates moved him past Bill Raftery for fourth place on the school’s career list. “I’m sure I already have a voicemail from Coach Raftery,” Willard said. “It’s what makes Seton Hall really special.” He added that both Raftery and P.J. Carlesimo talk to him often and that “they always buy dinner or make me buy them dinner. Again, it’s what makes Seton Hall special.”

Presumably, Willard and Raftery talk MAN-TO-MAN.

5--Sandro Mamukelashvili continues to become a force on the court. He had 14 points and 11 rebounds and was plus-23 against UNH.

“Last season was kind of a learning experience for me because I was behind the best (big man) in the country," he said of Angel Delgado, now in the G League. “Every time I was going against him (in practice) he was boxing me out, showing me tricks on how to rebound, and I feel like what he taught me really shows."

“Last year I didn’t have that much confidence because I was only in for a certain amount of minutes,” Mamukelashvili said, adding that Willard believes in him, noting, “I want to show him I’ve earned my minutes.”

“I wouldn’t say he’s doing one thing great. He’s doing everything well,” Willard said of the player from the country of Georgia.
